At 8 a.m. EST, Lil Dicky, aka Firm Handshake, released his new single in almost three years with the release of “Freaky Friday”.

“Freaky Friday” is the first single of Lil Dicky’s new album, his first new studio album since his 2015 debut Professional Rapper.

The song and video is a play on the classic movie Freaky Friday, however, instead of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, it’s LD & Chris Brown switching bodies and lives to hilarious effect.

Seriously, is there another rapper out there that could get away with the line “Ima blood but I can finally wear blue — why’s his Momma callin’ all the time? Leave me the f*ck alone, bitch!” and then get Ed Sheeran, DJ Khaled, and Kendall Jenner to appear in the video? Truthfully, I don’t think so.

As always, Dicky delivered the goods with this killer combination of catchy music and entertaining videos.

What a glorious day it is to be alive.

It’s Friday Jr. and the NCAA Tournament starts today, which means Daddy (me) is gonna be getting a little drunk and doing a little sports gambling after work, kick the weekend off a little early.

Speaking of kicking off the weekend early, I have this one degenerate friend who actually took off from his super cushy job for the next two days to get hammered and gamble. What a time to be alive indeed.

There’s not a great deal of tradition that goes into St. Patrick’s Day. It’s not even really a day dedicated to Irish culture at all, not that any of us could name a single Irish tradition outside of drinking anyway. So what do we do for St. Patty’s day? Well, we drink. And then we drink some more. And then maybe we eat some nachos. And then, inevitably, we color everything around us green. Everything. Nothing is safe from the permanent staining that comes from honoring the Emerald Isle. Not our beers, not our milkshakes, and not our clothes. This is a day when you’re pinched — physically assaulted if you want to get technical — for not wearing the color green. And yeah, some of that stuff is fine if it’s green. Milkshakes, beers, socks, ties — turn it green. That’s fine. You know what we could probably do without turning green? Pretty much everything else.

This one’s kind of a double whammy, because as frowned-upon as it is (or should be) to turn your hipster hair and somehow even hipper beard into vomit-colored cotton candy. It should be even more frowned-upon to let your kid take a picture of a guy who looks like if Dr. Seuss wrote the Magic Mike movies. You just know this guy gets dressed up as an Irish Chippendales dancer at the same time every year, with a mission to inspire children across the globe to follow their dreams and make a lousy holiday even worse.

Ah yes, who doesn’t love the great St. Patty’s Day tradition of turning rivers and fountains green.  They’re not just green, by the way. They’re the ugliest color green imaginable. I didn’t even know which color green was the ugliest color green until I looked at pictures of Chicago in mid-March, but pretty much any photo of this dyed-green water confirms it. At least we get to send an awesome message to the rest of the world: this is how little water means to us. We’ll pour pretty much anything in it, so long as we don’t miss the all-day parade full of screaming, 5’10 leprechauns. Also, are leprechauns racist? There’s just too much to unpack here.

Your American-flag themed Autism awareness t-shirt

Look, I’m all for people being aware of things. Autism awareness is undoubtedly important and the organizations that seek to make the world a better place for Autistic individuals deserve a great deal of credit for their efforts.

That being said, did this t-shirt need to be made? Is this shirt really going to push the needle forward regarding Autism awareness? It’s just confusing. It confuses me. It is sincerely designed for St. Patrick’s Day, so at least we know their intentions there, but why an American flag? And why have only the word ‘AUTISM’ on it? To make it more concise and stylish? This isn’t Supreme or Guess Jeans we’re talking about here. It’s an Autism awareness t-shirt. This shirt is more likely to confuse me than to make me aware of anything — I actually feel less aware of autism than I did before seeing this shirt because now I’m really unsure of how or why it relates to an Irish-themed American flag. I am, however, extremely aware that green is now my least favorite color. And I will not be buying this shirt.

Your…Everything

This photo more or less sums up everything worth loving and hating about St. Patrick’s Day: a huge, shirtless, completely green man surrounded on all sides by a drunk, makeshift parade. What I love most about this photo isn’t that they’re clearly just walking through a neighborhood, but that nobody in this picture is even close to being as undressed as The Incredible Bulk is. There’s a guy in shorts, sure, but even that guy’s wearing a sweatshirt. It’s all about equilibrium, baby! Pretty much everyone else in this photo is wearing at least a shirt, if not a sweatshirt or a jacket. This is clearly not a great day to walk through the streets shirtless, but do you think that’s after stopped this guy before? Nothing, and I mean nothing, is gonna stop this festive fellow from learning to embrace his naked body in public. And that, my friends, is what St. Patrick’s Day is all about.

Alpha Chi Omega at Lehigh University has been kicked off of the school’s campus due to what school officials called a “reprehensible scavenger hunt”. According to reports, the scavenger hunt involved drugs, alcohol and sexual activity.

In addition to being removed from the school’s campus, the chapter lost its recognition by Lehigh University for two years and will be banned from campus until May 2020.

According to reports, the sorority hosted a savenger hunt in December which participants were given a list of tasks that involved “the use of drugs and alcohol, sexual activity and other activities” that violate the Bethlehem school’s policy.

The sorority was suspended pending an investigation by a disciplinary committee that called the activity “reprehensible.”

“Lehigh University expects all students to uphold community standards and act in a manner that reflects the university’s Code of Conduct. Violations of these expectations, which are in place to foster a safe, respectful environment for all members of the Lehigh community, will result in consequences,” the university said in a statement.

Alpha Chi Omega’s statement reads in part, “The actions of our members in this incident were disturbing and led our leadership to undertake an extensive internal investigation. Following our initial review, we immediately rescinded the membership of nearly one-third of the members of the chapter those women who were most directly involved with this incident.”

The Alpha Chi Omega national organization conducted an investigation resulting in probation and individual punishments. The chapter can appeal the suspension if they wish to do so.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who were shut down for hazing and the Lamda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

The NCAA Men’s basketball tournament exists somewhat uniquely in terms of the weight it carries for individual players. It isn’t the college baseball world series, nor is it the college football playoff. It is, in one word, a gauntlet. When it comes to drafting players into the pros, however, that gauntlet can mean everything and nothing. Did Steph Curry need to lead Davidson to an improbable Elite 8 run in 2008 to become a top 10 pick in the draft a year later? Maybe. It’s not like Curry didn’t ball out in college, but that ’08 run sure helped. And what about Ben Simmons? LSU could have lost every game in 2015-2016, and Simmons still would have been a lock as a lottery pick. The tournament then seems most important for the guys who float in-between. They’re the older players, the borderline lottery players, and the players looking to build a legacy with one great tournament run. These are the players to watch during March Madness 2018:

Grayson Allen

The senior guard out of Duke, and the consensus ‘most hated player in college basketball’ may, in fact, have a lot to prove in this year’s tournament. As the team’s most seasoned player, emotional leader, and second-best scoring option, a deep run for Duke in this year’s tournament could mean a lot for the draft stock of a controversial but no-doubt effective player like Allen. Is he a dirty player? Maybe. His history of tripping, flopping, mocking, and instigating hasn’t endeared him to too many in the sports media, and many wonder how similar antics would play out on an NBA court full of players looking to take Coach K’s former bad boy down a few pegs. Here’s what we do know about Allen: he’s a competitor, and a personality, and a pretty damn good player. While he may be approaching the ceiling of his potential, the experience he brings and fire he plays with may be enough to land Allen somewhere at the end of the first round.

Mohamed Bamba

Bamba is expected to be a lottery pick, and may very well be the first overall pick in the draft. While his offensive skill set remains a bit raw in comparison to Duke big man Marvin Bagley III and Arizona center DeAndre Ayton, Bamba likely already has the length, athleticism, and defensive acumen to make an impact at the NBA level. Just a freshman, the 6-11 center still has time go grow even taller and fill out beyond the 225 pounds he currently sits at. With his Texas Longhorns seeded 10th in the South region, Bamba will need to put in work if he wants to A) make a meaningful tournament run, and B) make a meaningful push for the first spot in the draft. Something tells me he’s gonna rack up a few blocks, either way.

Mikal Bridges

Villanova’s recent success (they’re a one-seed in the tournament this year) should reflect well on Bridges, a 6-6 junior whose reputation as a floor-spacer and keen defender has helped propel him to a first-round lock in the upcoming draft. Having already won it all in the Big Dance in 2016, Bridges is likely focused on cementing himself as a Villanova legend with his final tournament run as a Wildcat. Following a breakout sophomore season in which he unexpectedly started every game, Bridges was lauded as a high-school scorer turned five-tool player, the sort of intangible praise that’s likely to land the 21-year-old somewhere in the late lottery.

Keita Bates-Diop

Bates-Diop may be the prototypical wing in the modern NBA, a role he’ll no doubt be drafted to fulfill on a team with immediate needs. The question then becomes how quickly he’ll be chosen to fill that role. At 22, he has the body and experience to dominate younger, smaller forwards at the college level, but it’ll take a serious run against the best in the country to propel Bates-Diop into the same draft conversation as a low-ceiling, high-floor plug-in player like Grayson Allen. He might just be ready to make that jump.

Michael Porter Jr.

Coming out of high school, Missouri forward Michael Porter Jr. was expected to spend one college season flat-out dominating before heading to the NBA as a potential first-overall pick. Things haven’t gone exactly as planned though, following a back injury in Missouri’s first game that caused the star forward to miss the entirety of the regular season. He’s returned at just the right time, though, and with many draft projections still treating him as a sure-fire lottery pick. So what does Porter Jr. have to lose? Well, at this point, just draft stock. While nobody really knows how deep in the tournament this already-good Missouri squad could go with the addition of Porter Jr.’s elite offensive skill set, it will mean a lot to NBA front-offices to see him play the way he’s supposed to against the best competition in the country.

Millennium Middle School in Tamarac, Florida is on lockdown as authorities search for a possible armed suspect in or nearby the school.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Millennium Middle School is currently on lockdown. Furthermore, Sunrise Police tweeted that schools in the area of Commercial Boulevard and Northwest 94th Avenue are also on lockdown as a result of the potentially armed person.

Authorities also warned that the suspect spotted in or near the school may be armed. While they are currently investigating, they have not said whether the threat is credible or not.

The lockdowns were initiated after police received a call about a “suspicious person.” The Broward Sheriff’s Office is currently on the scene investigating.

This is all the information available at this time. The lockdown in Tamarac comes the day after National School Walkout Day when young adults across the country walked out of class to protest our nation’s gun laws.

Authorities have released the security camera footage from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. The video shows the actions of former BSO deputy Scot Peterson during the deadly February 14 shooting that left 17 people dead.

On Monday, March 12, a judged ruled that the exterior surveillance video at Stoneman Douglas could be released fairly. There was a stay on the order until Thursday to allow anyone to make an appeal.

On February 14, 2018, a mass shooting occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Seventeen people were killed and seventeen more were wounded, all by bullets, making it one of the world’s deadliest school massacres.

19-year-old Nikolas Jacob Cruz, was identified by witnesses and arrested shortly afterward. He confessed, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder and 17 attempted murders. Police and prosecutors have not yet offered a motive and are investigating “a pattern of disciplinary issues and unnerving behavior”.

Prosecutors are currently seeking the death penalty.

Famous, decorated college baseball coach Augie Garrido, who won five national championships and who had a career that lasted six decades, has passed away at the age of 79. He had been hospitalized earlier this month after he endured a stroke.

What happened?

According to Chron, Texas athletics director Chris Del Conte issued the following statement:

“This is a very, very sad day. We lost one of the greatest coaches of all time, a truly special Longhorn kegend and college athletics icon. There will never be another Augie Garrido.”

“He was a once-in-a-lifetime personality whose impact on Texas athletics, collegiate baseball and the student-athletes he coached extended far beyond the playing field. If you were fortunate enough to have spent time with Augie, or if you followed him in any way, he had a great effect on you with his brilliant combination of wisdom, wit and charm. He was just an incredible coach, molder of men and a great person.”

“He will be missed, but the memories of him and his awesome accomplishments will carry on forever. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Jeannie, and his family.”

According to the Associated Press, who is believed to be one of the first publications that announced Garrido’s passing, it was announced that it was confirmed that the University of Texas first announced the news of his passing and that he suffered a stroke.

As a coach, he won three College World Series titles with the Titans in 1979, 1984 and 1995, later winning titles at Texas in 2002 and 2005. In addition, he won 25 conference championship and earned the title of “National Coach of the Year” six times, making him the first coach to win national championships with different schools.

In this viral video, a Chinese policeman identified as Abdusalam Abulati, caught a woman plunging off a window with his bare hands. According to the footage, the woman was sitting on a window ledge nearly 10 feet high before falling off the building.

What happened?

It is believed that Abulati and his colleagues were patrolling near a foot massage parlor near 4 A.M. when the incident took place. The woman was said to have argued with her husband before she fell off the building.

At this time, the exact reason why the woman fell was not immediately clear. In their coverage of the story, Daily Mail claimed that the woman was believed to be “suicidal” but that her fall from the building had been accidental.

What happens now?

For his efforts, Abulati endured spinal compression fractures, sending him to a local hospital for treatment; it is believed that the woman did not endure any injuries from the fall.

According to a Daily Mail translation of Pear Video, which gave a brief interview with Abulati while in the hospital, after showcasing him saving the woman, he was reported to have said:

“I didn’t too much and just rush to save her [sic].”

All of this, wrapped up in a 7-foot package, should be uniquely attractive to NBA GMs. There shouldn’t be any doubt Bamba can adjust to the NBA and improve a franchise. Deandre Ayton is a sight to behold. Ayton lit up the Pac-12 as a freshman, earning Pac-12 Freshman and Player of the Year honors. He’s a skilled scorer, a deft shot-blocker, an intelligent passer, and a 7-footer with a developed jump shot–a perfectly-formulated young star for the Memphis Grizzlies, who look like they’ll end up with the first choice of the 2018 Draft. As if it was any surprise to any gaming fan, the Tomb Raider series will be getting a new installment this fall with the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Since first being leaked in a photo of an unknown man riding a train in Montreal with his laptop displaying the title of the game back in 2016, pretty much everyone in the gaming world has known of the game’s existence. The game was then referenced again in a letter from developer Square Enix which teased the game’s title within the letter’s wording.

Now, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is ready to be revealed to the world along with the game’s release date and a short trailer. What’s interesting to note is that there is no console exclusivity deal happening with the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider which happened with its predecessor Rise of the Tomb Raider; the game will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at launch.

From the short trailer that was revealed along with the announcement of the game, it seems that Lara’s next adventure is going to have something to do with the Ancient Mayan civilization. Multiple shots in the trailers suggest the game will have a lush and dense jungle area as well as multiple temples and tombs to explore.

The previous entry in the rebooted Tomb Raider series, Rise of the Tomb Raider, found itself in an interesting situation when the game was locked for one year to a console exclusivity deal with Microsoft’s Xbox One. The partnership helped the game get developed and marketed properly but many fans of the series were die-hard PlayStation fans (given the franchise’s roots) who did not own an Xbox One and the release of the ever similar Uncharted 4 only hurt the game’s chances at widespread acclaim. Seeing the game release on all platforms simultaneous is a smart and welcome move for the franchise.

Florida International University’s pedestrian bridge has collapsed on Thursday afternoon. Located at 109th Ave and 8th Street, the bridge, which weighs around 950 tons, went up on Saturday, lowered into its final position. People near the incident have been sharing images and videos of the incident on social media. At this time, numerous people were said to have been injured and even killed, but it is unclear just how many people had been hurt from the incident.

What happened?

At this time, the bridge was believed to have collapsed on Thursday afternoon. At this time, the reasons for the incident and if there were any casualties is unknown. On their official Twitter account, the school released the following statements:

“#FIUalert Please avoid the areas between SW 117th Ave and 107th Ave. Police activity in the area.”

“#FIUalert: The pedestrian bridge across Southwest Eighth Street has collapsed, please avoid the area.”

“We are shocked and saddened about the tragic events unfolding at the FIU-Sweetwater pedestrian bridge. At this time, we are still involved in rescue efforts and gathering information. We are working closely with authorities and first responders on the scene. We will share updates as we have them.”

UPDATE: ABC News confirmed that people had been killed in the collapse, but the exact number of victims is unclear at this time. In addition, five to seven cars were crushed in the incident. According to CBS4 Local, Florida Highway Patrol official Jim DeFede issued the following statement, emphasizing how getting a number of casualties is unclear at this point:

“At this point, we can’t even tell how many cars are under there. We won’t have a count on bodies for a while. It’s bad. It’s really bad.”

An eyewitness, identified as Tiona Page, gave the following account to ABC News:

“As soon as I looked outside, I saw dust flying everywhere.”

“I knew the bridge had collapsed.”

What happens now?

Florida Governor Rick Scott issued the following statement on Twitter:

“I have spoken with Miami-Dade County Police Chief Juan Perez about the pedestrian bridge collapse at FIU. I will be in constant communication with law enforcement throughout the day.”

According to CBS Local, at least one person was sent to a local hospital as a trauma alert, as confirmed by the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The bridge was created to serve as a safe route for students traveling between FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus and the small city of Sweetwater, which has around 4,000 students. Beforehand, both students and faculty members asked for a pedestrian bridge at the crossing, as they would need to cross seven lanes of traffic to commute to the school.

New Mexico State Police say there is an active shooting in Albuquerque near Fifth Street and Candelaria. Nearby La Luz Elementary and Garfield Middle schools have been placed on lockdown due to the police activity in the area.

Police are currently on the scene and are currently asking civilians to avoid the area. There are is no word on any injuries or fatalities at this time.

Update (3:50 p.m. – New Mexico State Police say the suspect involved in an active shooting situation in northeast Albuquerque has been contained in a residence.)

According to Albuquerque Public Schools, La Luz Elementary, Garfield Middle school, the Albuquerque Preschool Co-op, MacArthur Elementary, Griegos Elementary and Valley High School have been placed on lockdown, while Cochiti Elementary School implemented a shelter in place.

The third-overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft, Thomas spent all 11 of his NFL seasons at left tackle for the Cleveland Browns, excelling in one of the most underrated and yet heavily sought-after positions in football. Thomas’s most recent contract was an interesting one, paying him $13.25 million per year, but with only $1.5 million dollars guaranteed. At the time of his retirement, Thomas was among the highest-paid players at his position, while his contract remained among the lowest in both total value and guaranteed money. Basically, the Browns were paying him a lot to lose every game last season, but not enough to keep him losing every game next season.

Early Life and College Career: 1984 – 2006

Thomas was born in Brookfield, Wisconsin on December 4, 1984, attending Brookfield Central High School and excelling both athletically and academically. Thomas played right tackle, defensive end, tight end, fullback, placekicker and punter for the Brookfield Central Lancasters, earning second-team All-American honors as an offensive guard and winning the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2002. Nebraska, Colorado, and Notre Dame were among the major football colleges competing for Thomas’ letter of intent, but in the end he stayed close to home, choosing the University of Wisconsin.

Thomas would play for the Wisconsin Badgers from 2003 — 2006, earning first-team All-American honors in his third season. Seen as a top-15 pick in that year’s draft, Thomas considered leaving Wisconsin after his junior year to pursue a career in the NFL. Then things got, in an unfortunate sort of way, kind of interesting. In the 2003 Capital One Bowl against Auburn, Thomas was tasked with switching back to his high school position of defensive end, following a number of injuries to the Badgers’ defense. While Wisconsin would go on to beat Auburn 24-10, Thomas would end tearing his ACL while playing defense.

Thomas would eventually return for his senior year as an offensive captain, eventually winning the Outland Trophy as the nation’s best interior lineman, as well being named a consensus first-team All-American. Wisconsin would set a school mark with a 12-1 record.

NFL Career and Ironman Status: 2007 – Present

As the third-overall pick in the 2007 draft, Thomas signed a six-year contract worth $43 million, with $23 million guaranteed. He would play every snap of that rookie season, eventually finishing second in the Rookie of the Year voting to Adrian Peterson, with Thomas and Peterson finishing as the only two players to receive votes.

In his first seven seasons, Thomas asserted himself as the best offensive lineman in football, becoming only the second Cleveland Browns player after Jim Brown to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first seven years. Thomas would go on to make 10 consecutive Pro Bowls to begin his career, the second most of any player to begin a career behind only Hall of Famer Merlin Olsen, who made 14 consecutive Pro Bowls at defensive tackle between 1962 — 1975.

While Thomas’s blocking ability is inarguably among the greatest of all time, he is perhaps best known for his unique durability and consistency. The owner of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints and the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans, Tom Benson, died Thursday in New Orleans at the age of 90. At the time of his death, he had been only one of three owners of both an NFL and NBA franchise; in life, he was often credited with keeping both teams within New Orleans.

What happened?

Benson has been in the hospital since February 16 in New Orleans and he was said to have flu-like symptoms. Benson is survived by his wife, Gayle Marie Benson, who had been with him at the time of his passing.

According to ESPN, commissioner Roger Goodell issued the following statement about Benson’s passing:

“Tom Benson’s contributions to New Orleans and the National Football League were legendary.”

“He purchased a team that had never had a winning season; by the third year of his ownership, the Saints were in the playoffs. Tom kept the Saints together through the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, and his decision to bring the team back to New Orleans gave the entire region hope and confidence that they would recover. The Saints rewarded their fans with tremendous football and a Super Bowl championship.”

“Within the NFL, he was a true leader among NFL owners. … I know that the entire NFL family joins me in extending our most heartfelt condolences to Gayle Benson and the entire Saints organization.”
