Last year, Netflix announced that the hit show “13 Reasons Why” would be returning for a second season. This month, the streaming giant announced that the Netflix original will be returning for season 2 on Friday, May 18. The show instantly became a success during its premiere season and was the second most-tweeted-about TV show of 2017. The show also finished as the top-trending show on Google following its debut season. “13 Reasons Why” is based on the 2007 novel Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.

Netflix announced the season 2 premiere date along with a one minute and thirty-seven second trailer.

The trailer, which doesn’t reveal much about what we can expect in season 2, features Polaroids above the heads of the cast members.

Entertainment Weekly had some information about the new episodes:

“When people intimate that Jessica’s story is done, I find that a horrific thought because Jessica is just beginning the process of recovering from her rape, and we have a rapist who has not in any way been brought to justice. To leave those two things hanging out there in the world would be upsetting. I want to see how that at least starts to play out and I want to do Jessica’s story the deserved justice of following her as she goes back to school, as she tries to begin to recover from what happened to her, because it’s something that millions of young women go through. And also [I want to] see somebody punch Bryce in the face.”

It has also been reported that season 2 will take palce a few months after the events of the season one finale.

Smart was born in Montgomery, Alabama, but grew up in Bainbridge, the son of a high school football coach. 2005-2013

For the 2005 season, he rejoined the Georgia Bulldogs as a running backs coach. The following year saw his only season in the NFL, as the Miami Dolphins safeties coach. In 2007, Smart was hired by Nick Saban to be an assistant coach at the University of Alabama; the following year saw him promoted to defensive coordinator. Proving his work, he was awarded the Broyles Award as the nation’s best assistant coach in 2009, making him the first Alabama assistant coach to win the award. His success almost earned him a contract with the University of Georgia, but he chose to stay with Alabama for the time being. By 2013, he became the highest-paid defensive coordinator in college football.

2014-Present

By 2015, Smart did eventually return to the University of Georgia, becoming the school’s 26th head football coach. By 2018, the University of Georgia and Smart agreed on a lucrative contract extension worth $49 million, essentially making Smart the third-highest paid coach in the SEC, just behind Alabama’s Nick Saban and Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher. Stretching out over seven years, he will net $7 million each year. According to WSB-TV, J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Greg McGarity issued the following statement:

One person was shot at the Opry Mills shopping mall in Nashville this Thursday. According to officials, the shooting took place inside an Old Navy in the mall and at least one victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where they were said to be in critical condition. With police believing a dispute cause the shooting, conflicting reports have given different numbers of victims. Officers are also attempting an evacuation at the mall.

What happened?

The Metro Nashville Police Department issued the following statement on Twitter:

“BREAKING: Dispute at Opry Mills Mall results in gunfire. One person shot. Suspected shooter in custody. No additional imminent threat known. Mall being swept by MNPD officers as a precaution.”

In a series of posts on Twitter, in addition to retweeting the above post, the Nashville Fire Department confirmed that there had been one victim who was taken to a local hospital and that claims of a second victim were believed to be false:

“Our personnel is on scene at Opry Mills Mall. One patient transported to Vanderbilt in Critical Condition.”

“update: patient is en route to skyline hospital. No other patients right now. A reported second patient was false.”

“We are staging with @MNPDNashville as they clear the mall. No other injuries reported.”

UPDATE: According to WKRN, a 22-year-old man who was shot during the incident later died from his wounds; identified as Demarco Churchwell, the victim endured a neck injury and died shortly after he was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center. The gunman, who is currently in police custody, was identified as Justin Golson, who surrendered his gun and told someone to call police at the Opry House’s ticket booth after exiting the mall. Police spokesman Don Aaron confirmed that the shooting was caused by a dispute between the victim and the gunman:

“Indication this has been festering and it wasn’t a spur of the moment thing.”

Nearby schools and businesses were placed on lockdown

According to News Channel 5, one person, the suspected shooter, was in police custody with no known additional imminent threat. As mentioned above, police were also evacuating the mall focusing on areas like Bass Pro, Johnny Rockets, and the food court.

Some locations in the area have also been placed on lockdown in response to the shooting, such as Gaylord Opryland Hotel, with people currently being prohibited from entering or leaving. Some local Metro Nashville Public Schools were also placed on lockout, including Two River’s Middle School, Pennington Elementary School, McGavock Elementary School, Stanford Montessori and Litton Middle School.

With the NFL Draft and free agency over, every front office thinks they’re ready to make a Super Bowl run in 2018. Quarterbacks are the building blocks of a modern NFL team, and every quarterback needs a good supporting cast around him. With that being said, let’s look at three offenses that are looking to take a giant leap forward in 2018.

Chicago Bears

The Bears invested in their franchise quarterback in 2017 by trading up to grab Mitchell Trubisky. Then, they brought in offensive guru Matt Nagy as the new head coach. After that, they went out to get Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, and Trey Burton to give Trubisky more weapons. Finally, they drafted Iowa’s James Daniels to play guard and Memphis’ Anthony Miller as another pass catcher. Don’t forget their excellent offensive line and superstar running back in Jordan Howard. The Bears offense will be a force to be reckoned with in 2018. They made the right moves, grabbing a great mix of both rookies and veterans who can be impact players. If everyone can stay healthy (I’m talking about you Kevin White), they have the potential to be a top 10 offense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This pick has gone on for probably the past four years now, but this is really the year. After drafting running back Ronald Jones out of USC in the second round, the Bucs should have a potent run game. Also, Jameis Winston should finally have the support system that he needs in the pass game with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on the outside, with their first round pick from last year, tight end O.J Howard running up the seam. Does that mean he’ll stop throwing interceptions? Not necessarily, but Evans, Godwin, and Howard are all big targets who are pretty hard to miss. The offensive line will be a big question mark, but keep an eye on Alex Cappa, a guard out of Humboldt State who was one of the biggest risers during draft season, as a potential impact player.

Denver Broncos

The offense, led by Case Keenum, should see a bit of a resurgence this year. Royce Freeman, their third round pick out of Oregon, is going to be the starting running back from day one, and he’s getting a lot of love from fantasy owners and NFL GM’s. Their second round pick, wide receiver Courtland Sutton, has the highest upside of any receiver in the draft, and now he gets to learn from Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders too! There are a few great sleepers on this team too, at running back, watch out for undrafted free agent Phillip Lindsay out of Colorado. At wide receiver, Carlos Henderson missed his first year because of injury, but he got a lot of love coming out of Louisiana Tech, so keep your eye on him to show some flashes this season. Jake Butt also has a lot of potential at tight end, there was first round talk about him coming out of Michigan before he tore his ACL.

Kappa Sigma Fraternity at the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNCC) was suspended after a student died when she fell from a party bus earlier this week.

Polly Miranda Rogers, 20, was in a Charlotte Party Charter bus and fell out of the emergency window Tuesday night, 5/2, according to police. She was struck by two vehicles.

On Thursday, 5/4, Kappa Sigma Fraternity suspended their UNCC chapter amid the investigation.

Police say that alcohol was consumed on the bus, but a cause of death is still under review. The company that operates the party bus states on its website that alcohol is allowed on the bus, but that everyone must be at least 21 years old if alcohol is present.

Charlotte Party Charter said they are not responsible for verifying the ages of the passengers.

The fraternity chapter issued a statement Thursday to WBTV that says it will “fully cooperate” with officials.

“The Brothers of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Polly Rogers. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Rogers family and to her loved ones,” the statement read. “We are in the process of conducting an investigation of the event on Tuesday evening. The Kappa Sigma Fraternity will fully cooperate with all investigations of the University and local authorities.”

Rogers was a member of the University’s Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and was studying special education. She also volunteered at the local YMCA with children with autism.

Friends, family, co-workers, and the UNCC community are mourning the loss of someone they say was “loving, adventurous and unforgettable.”

Rogers’ sorority sisters created a GoFundMe page to help with memorial costs.

There will be a vigil at UNCC’s quad in her memory, on Sunday, 5/6.

Browning plays the role of main character Samantha White in the series. Antoinette Robertson is one of the main characters on the Netflix series “Dear White People,” a satirical comedy-drama based on the 2014 film of the same name. , starring in the role of Colandrea ‘Coco’ Conners. It is the second major role for the actress, who previously starred in “Hart of Dixie” as Lynly Hayes.

Coco is one of the students at Winchester University in the Netflix series, majoring in economics and serving as the treasurer for the Coalition of Racial Equality student union.

Robertson got her breakthrough opportunity in a guest-starring role in ABC’s “Zero Hour.”

“Alima, my first guest-starring role in ABC’s Zero Hour, gave me my first recurring role on a major network. Who knew randomly learning a South African accent in acting school would give me a competitive advantage. That experience shaped my thought process about this business,” Robertson said in an interview with the Huffington Post. “I learned that hard work, discipline and a constant pursuit of growth are valuable habits to adopt if excellence and longevity are your goals. ”

Following the roleof Alima, Robertson went on to appear in “Hart of Dixie,” “The Haves and the Have Nots,” and a brief feature role on the FX hit show “Atlanta.”

Robertson was born in the Bronx, New York to two immigrant parents. She spent her childhood in both the United States and Jamaica, attending Jamaica’s Anglican all-girls School before attending Stony Brook University with a Bachelors degree in chemistry. Stocking was born in Los Angeles, California on February 4, 1992, before moving to Oregon where she attended Ashland High School in Ashland, Oregon. The Ole Miss chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity has been suspended after “disappointing and troubling activities” were uncovered during a recent hazing investigation.

Ole Miss Dean of Students Mindy Sutton Ross released a statement saying: “Hazing and related behavior that put student health and safety at risk are contrary to the University of Mississippi Creed and will not be tolerated. The national organization supports the university’s decision to suspend the chapter.”

This is the second fraternity chapter to be suspended at the University of Mississippi this year.

This is the latest major fraternity or sorority suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities in the wake of hazing and alcohol deaths.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who were shut down for hazing and the Lamda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

Penn State Sorority Suspended Until 2022 Due To Alcohol Violations

Kilauea volcano in Hawaii has erupted near a residential area, prompting a local state of emergency and the mandatory evacuation of 1,700 residents. The volcano is one of five on the island and erupted after a series of earthquakes during the week, including a 5.0 tremor earlier in the day.

According to the Civil Defense Agency, extreme levels of dangerous sulphur dioxide gas have been detected in the area. David Ige, the governor of Hawaii, says he has activated military reservists from the National Guard to help evacuate thousands of people.

Local officials had warned residents all week that they should be prepared to evacuate as an eruption would give little warning.

Kilauea is a currently active shield volcano in the Hawaiian Islands and the most active of the five volcanoes that together form the island of Hawaiʻi. Located along the southern shore of the island, the volcano is between 300,000 and 600,000 years old and emerged above sea level about 100,000 years ago. It is the second youngest product of the Hawaiian hotspot.

Kilauea means “spewing” or “much spreading” in the Hawaiian language.

LeBron James has been on an absolute tear throughout the Eastern Conference semifinals. During Game 2 against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night, LeBron went off for 43 points, 14 assists and 8 rebounds. That dominance led to a brilliant comment from ESPN’s Mark Jones which turned into the latest internet meme.

“We’ll be right back to LeBronto after this,” Jones said on-air.

Immediately the memes began flying with everyone giving their take on the new king of Toronto — sorry, Drake.

Next up for the Cavaliers and Raptors is Game 3 in Cleveland on Saturday night. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC. If the Cavs earn another big win, they will be one victory away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals where they would take on the winner of the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics series.

In a shocking twist that’d be more suited for an Adult Swim cartoon, a New Jersey public school superintendent has been identified as the local mystery serial pooper.

Thomas Tramaglini is the superintendent of Kenilworth Public Schools who had allegedly left daily deposits on the football field of a high school in another school district. The high school on the wrong receiving end was Holmdel High.

Tramaglini, 42, was issued citations on Monday, May 30, for public urination or defecation, discarding and dumping of litter, and lewdness, according to the state’s municipal court case database.

Holmdel High School staff alerted a school resource officer and athletic coaches “that they were finding human feces” at or near the track and football field “on a daily basis,” according to a Facebook post by local police.

Tramaglini is scheduled to appear in Holmdel Municipal Court on May 7.

USA Today reports that the superintendent makes $147,504 a year, and “requested and received a paid leave of absence.”

Tramaglini was appointed the Kenilworth Public Schools Superintendent in December 2015. His salary is listed as $147,504 a year, according to public employee records on www.datauniverse.com. Kenilworth is a pre-K to high school district.

Tramaglini requested and received a paid leave of absence from his job at Kenilworth Public Schools “given the nature of those charges,” the district’s board of education wrote in a statement. Paid leave is required by law unless an employee faces an indictment or tenure charges.

TMZ reporter Van Lathan recently made headlines standing up to Kanye West, who himself recently made headlines for implying that slavery was a “choice” in a series of posts on Twitter after he appeared at the TMZ Live newsroom. As seen below, the incident appears to be on its way to becoming immortalized as a viral video.

What happened?

During his appearance, West appeared with Harvey Levin and conservative commentator Candace Owens, as he touched upon the Twitter story that made headlines last week. As seen in the above video, West explained about his tweet implying that slavery was a “choice” in the following exchange:

“When you hear about slavery for 400 years—for 400 years? That sounds like a choice. Like, you was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? It’s like we’re mentally in prison.”

“It was really just my subconscious. It was a feeling I had, you know. Like, people, we’re taught how to think. We’re taught how to feel. We don’t know how to think for ourselves. We don’t know how to feel for ourselves. People say, ‘feel free,’ but they don’t really want us to feel free. I felt a freedom.”

West and the two commenters then talked about how Trump was popular in the hip-hop community before his political aspirations became a reality:

“I just love Trump. That’s my boy. You know, so many rappers—you look at a video of Snoop Dogg lovin’ Trump, but then he get in the office and now they don’t love him. Trump is one of rap’s favorite people.”

However, not everyone in the newsroom was happy with West’s explanation. One TMZ reporter, Van Lathan, particularly became upset when West asked the newsroom:

“Do you feel like I’m thinking free and feeling free?”

Lathan then gave the following, lengthy response:

“I actually don’t think you’re thinking anything. I think what you’re doing right now is actually the absence of thought. And the reason why I feel like that is because, Kanye, you’re entitled to your opinion.”

“You’re entitled to believe whatever you want. But there is fact, and real-world, real-life consequence behind everything that you just said. And while you are making music and being an artist and living the life that you’ve earned by being a genius, the rest of us in society have to deal with these threats to our lives.”

“We have to deal with the marginalization that has come from the 400 years of slavery that you said, for our people, was a choice. Frankly, I’m disappointed, I’m appalled and, brother, I am unbelievably hurt by the fact that you have morphed into something, to me, that’s not real.”

“Stand on all the coffee tables you want to stand on. Say whatever you want to say. But don’t throw a stone and then hide your hand like the rest of us are just going to swallow it. Ye, be ye. I am off it forever. Do you, but remember, the life that I live is as a real person, an actual person.”

At one point during the confrontation, West walked over to Lathan’s desk to apologize, saying that he was sorry he “hurt” him, but Lathan issued the following statement:

“Bro, you’ve got to be responsible. Your voice is too big.”

Who is Van Lathan?

According to Hollywood Life, Lathan originally worked as a tour guide for the TMZ Hollywood tour bus. Complex confirmed that he is now a senior producer for the company.

According to Your Tango, Lathan hosts a podcast, The Red Pill, where he talks about his opinion on current events. Sports journalism is a big focus of his show; one notable story had him discuss the abuse women in athletes’ lives often go through. One of his latest episodes, however, was called “Wake Up Mr. West,” where he discussed West’s social media presence with Charlamagne Tha God.

Lathan later made the following statement with Complex about becoming part of a viral moment:

“The misinformation that’s coming out his mouth can actually affect people and people need to have the opportunity to hear both sides of things and if he’s going to sit up there on a pulpit, he was up, raised above the rest of us sitting on the TMZ Live stage talking.

“It wasn’t my job to destroy Kanye West or make a viral moment. It was to make sure what people heard doesn’t resonate with us all. The point was to make sure the opposite method of thinking was represented and we do that every day here.”

Adam Warlock is probably the most vital character of  Cosmic Marvel…that you’ve never even heard of.  Though this character has been central to the history of Thanos, the Infinity Stones, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, for some reason he has yet to make any kind of appearance. His absence has been so notable that directors James Gunn and the Russo Bro’s have had to defend their omission of the character from the first two GOTG movies and Avengers: Infinity War to fans multiple times.

Still, while it may take longer than first thought, it seems to only be a matter of time before Adam makes his live-action debut. An Easter Egg in a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post-credit scene appears to have set the stage for his arrival that some fans believe could be as early as next year’s Avengers 4. To prep for Adam’s appearance, here are some must-know facts about the enigmatic hero.

“I think I shall call him…Adam”

In GOTG 2 our heroes encounter an advanced race of golden humanoids known as the Sovereign, who reproduce through artificial means in order to ensure genetic perfection. At the end of the film, the Sovereign’s High Priestess Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) reveals her plan to create an even more perfect being, one who could hopefully destroy the heretical Guardians. As the Priestess ruminates on her creation’s abilities, the camera cuts to a gilded pod wherein the creature Ayesha dubs ‘Adam’ gestates.

This is the MCU adaption of the creation of Adam, as well as a profoundly altered version of Ayesha. Initially, both Adam and Ayesha (better known as ‘Kismet’) originated on Earth from the attempts of scientists to create the genetically perfect being. The first attempt led to a golden being simply called ‘Him’ emerging from an organic cocoon and, entirely dismissive of his creators and their nefarious plans, flying off into the galaxy. “Him” would eventually become Adam Warlock, cosmic messiah and primary bearer of the Soul Gem. Kismet or ‘Her’ was born from the scientists’ second attempt and is generally seen as Adam’s female twin and equal, with roughly the same abilities and penchant for gestational cocoons.

His Own Worst Enemy

While Adam has served time and time again as the foil against Thanos, the Titan is far from his worst enemy. That honor goes to a being known as the Magus, who also happens to be a twisted future version of Adam. The Magus was responsible for the death of billions, including Gamora’s entire race, as he led a crusade of hate against the galaxy as the head of an organization called the Universal Church of Truth. Thanos has even teamed up with Adam and other comic heroes multiple times to defeat the Magnus or attempt to change Adam’s fate of being corrupted into the malignant being.

While cryptic comments from the MCU team don’t seem inclined to confirm Adam’s involvement in Avengers 4, it’s highly unlikely that his evil counterpart could make an appearance.

The Soul Stone

While Adam is one of the most significant bearers of the Infinity Gauntlet he is probably even better known for his connection to the Soul Stone, which he typically wore on his forehead (think Vision and the Mind Stone). As its bearer, Adam had access and partial control over a heavenlike pocket universe within the Stone known as ‘Soulworld’ which could draw in and contain the souls of other beings. By containing and then releasing friends, enemies and even himself within Soulworld, Adam could essentially return the dead to life.

The importance of the Stone’s power over life and death and the Soulworld is clear to anyone who has seen Avengers: Infinity War.

While there is no guarantee it functions in the same manner as it’s comic counterpart, it’s entirely possible that the souls of those killed by the Gauntlet could have been pulled into the Soul Stone and therefore eventually be restored to life.

We will have to wait until next year before we can know for sure how, if at all, Adam Warlock and/or the Soul Stone’s capabilities will be utilized in Avengers 4. Until then you can learn more about the character and his connection to the stones and gauntlet in the comic Infinity War was based on, Infinity Gauntlet, as well as the current Infinity Countdown event.
