WWE is smack dab in the middle of their European tour which means tonight Monday Night Raw will emanate from across the pond. After a stream of house shows around the continent, the superstars are ready to put on a big show for the British audience. Roman Reigns will be looking to get a back at Jinder Mahal for costing him his chance at the MITB. Last week Mahal took it upon himself to interfere with Reigns qualifying match against Balor in protest to what he thought was an injustice by Kurt Angle to the Modern Day Maharaja. Picking a fight with Reigns and costing him a chance at the briefcase may not have been the best way to go about it voicing his grievances. Mahal is no pushover but we all have seen how persistent Reign can be when he’s angry.

Rollins continues to be a fighting champion, putting his Intercontinental Championship on the line again. Last week he answered the call of Mojo Rawley and walked out with his title still in hand, this week he faces a tougher challenge. Former Intercontinental and Universal Champion Kevin Owens looks to get his hands on his former title. KO and The Architect are superb in-ring performers and this should prove to be an amazing match.

And finally, huge news was released today! Nia Jax informed the world that the next challenger for her Raw Women’s Championship will be no other than Ronda Rousey. This is a surprising turn of events. Many thought WWE would ease Rousey into the Championship scene, but if this pans out then she will be challenging in only her second ever PPV. Jax is an imposing figure and the two might have to meet face to face tonight. If they do, you won’t want to miss it.

First Lady Melania Trump was hospitalized on Monday morning and underwent surgery. According to a press release from the White House, the First Lady underwent a kidney procedure and will remain hospitalized for the remainder of the week. Few details on Mrs. Trump’s condition are known at this time outside of a brief statement issued by the White House.

‘This morning, First Lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition,” the first lady’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement. “The procedure was successful and there were no complications. Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week. The First Lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere.”

Melania is the first United States First Lady to undergo a serious medical procedure while in the White House since Nancy Reagan had a mastectomy in October 1987. Betty Ford was the first First Lady to undergo a serious procedure while in office after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Weeks later, Ford underwent a mastectomy.

Rosalynn Carter is the other First Lady to undergo a major surgery, having a benign lump removed from her breast in 1977.

It was just last week that the 48-year-old Trump announced her “Be Best” campaign. “We can and should be best at educating our children about the importance of a healthy and balanced life,” she said at the time of the announcement in the Rose Garden.

President Donald Trump, who remained at the White House during the First Lady’s surgery, is expected to travel to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland later in the day.

What is Ramadan?

Ramadan, also known as “Ramzan,” “Ramadhan,” or “Ramathan,” is often referred to as a “holiday,” but the observance actually lasts a month and is in itself the ninth month of the lunar Islamic calendar.

The first night, also known as the “night of power” or “night of decree,” is considered the holiest night of the year, as it represents the night Muhammad had his first revelation. Ramadan ends with the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which also marks the beginning of the next lunar month. Its observance is ultimately considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam.

The word “Ramadan” means “heat” or “dryness,” representing the holiday serving as a period of fasting and sacrifice.

How do believers celebrate Ramadan?

Adult Muslims are obliged to fast, which is defined as abstaining from eating and drinking during daylight hours, although there are a few exceptions: the ill, those traveling, elderly, pregnant, breastfeeding, diabetic, chronically ill or menstruating. In certain circumstances, people who were unable to fast during the month of Ramadan are obliged to fast at later dates.

In addition, Muslims are obliged to practice increased prayer, self-discipline and charity during this period. A pre-dawn meal that takes places before the fast is called the “suhur;” a meal that takes place after sunset that breaks the fast is called the “iftar,” according to The Sun.

During this period, Muslims also greet each other with “Ramadan Mubarak” or “Ramadan Kareem,” both of which mean “Blessed Ramadan.”

Tatiana Suarez is a promising prospect in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s strawweight division, but injuries have held her back throughout her career. The 27-year-old has a strong wrestling background and was the season 23 winner of The Ultimate Fighter reality series. Suarez beat teammate Amanda Bobby Cooper in The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale by D’Arce choke to win the strawweight tournament winner.

During her wrestling career, Suarez was a two-time bronze medalist in the world championships in freestyle wrestling. She was the top-ranked freestyle wrestler in the United States at 55kg, but a devastating neck injury while training for the 2012 Summer Olympics derailed her Olympic dreams.

An MRI revealed that Suarez was suffering from a disc injury, but also had a cancerous growth on her thyroid. After radiation and having her thyroid and lymph nodes removed, the cancer was gone and Suarez returned to training.

In her professional mixed martial arts debut in July 2014, Suarez captured the vacant Gladiator Challenge Flyweight Championship. She then racked up a 3-0 record before getting the call to join The Ultimate Fighter. On the show, Suarez beat Chel-c Bailey, JJ Aldrich, and Kate Jackson — two of the wins coming by submission — to earn her place in the finale which she ultimately won.

After defeating Cooper in the Finale, Suarez took more than a year out of action before returning to score a unanimous decision win over Viviane Pereira in November 2017 at UFC Fight Night 120.

Poliana Botelho is a Rio de Janeiro native who got her professional mixed martial arts career underway on the regional circuit in Brazil. Now, she is trying to take the next step towards stardom on the biggest stage the sport has to offer and under the bright lights of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. While she is currently unranked in the UFC’s strawweight division, a big win could begin her move up the 115-pound ladder.

Botelho, who trains at the famed Nova Uniao gym, is a black belt in Muay Thai and blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She holds a professional record of 6-1 since debuting in 2013.

Botelho began her professional career with two straight knockout wins over Thais Raphaela and Ingrid Schwartz, before falling to fellow UFC fighter Viviane Pereira for the vacant Bitetti Combat Women’s Flyweight Championship. She rebounded with three straight wins, including a TKO victory over Silvana Gomez Juarez for the XFC Women’s Flyweight Championship.

The 29-year-old then got the call-up to the UFC, making her strawweight debut and defeating Pearl Gonzalez via unanimous decision at UFC 216.

Now, Botelho is looking to get back in action against Syuri Kondo on Saturday, May 18 at UFC Fight Night 129 in Santiago, Chile. Veronica Macedo, a 22-year-old prospect from Caracas, Venezuela, is one of the rising fighters to watch in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s flyweight division. Macedo began her professional career in March 2016 and went on to have six professional fights within five months, earning a 5-0-1 record. Macedo then received the call-up from the UFC and made her promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 93 getting TKO’d by Ashlee Evans-Smith.

Macedo is a black belt in Taekwondo, brown belt in karate, and a brown belt in jiu-jitsu.

After seven pro fights within a calendar year, Macedo took a year off to get back to 100 percent and continue to fine tune her game.

She will now return to the octagon on Saturday, May 19 and attempt to return to the win column when she takes on Andrea “KGB” Lee at UFC Fight Night 129 at Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. Alexa Grasso is a rising prospect to watch in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s strawweight division. While Grasso is just 24 years old, she has compiled a professional mixed martial arts record of 10-1 and has a 2-1 record since joining the UFC ranks. Ranked as the No. 9 contender at 115-pounds, the Guadalajara, Mexico product is looking to continue climbing the ranks on the sport’s biggest stage.

Grasso first got her start training thanks to her uncle, who used to train and teach. She also learned boxing from her father, before picking up jiu-jitsu. Once Grasso started training, there was no turning back.

” I used to watch my uncle Francisco Grasso training and teaching. My dad taught me shadow boxing one day, and afterward I tried a class with Francisco and it was really nice. After some time, we opened a gym and I helped him and my dad with reception and cleaning,” she recalled, via UFC.com. “One day we decided to compete at a jiu-jitsu tournament, and me and Irene Aldana won first place, and it was a national tournament. After that, I felt amazing and realized I wanted to feel that again by being on the podium. December 2012 was my first MMA fight and I won, and since that day I am always training.”

Grasso won a belt in an Xtreme Kombat Grand Prix and won the national white/blue belt 2x nogi and other regional tournaments.

Training out of Lobo Gym, Grasso is teammates with fellow UFC fighter Irene Aldana.

Andrea Lee is a decorated mixed martial artist and a fighter in the strawweight division that many have been watching as she rises to the top of her class. Lee’s UFC debut has been delayed due to a stipulation with the promotion’s USADA drug testing protocol, but she is now ready to go and step into the octagon for the first time.

Lee began training martial arts later than most but has racked up numerous titles during her rise to prominence.

“I started training at age 20 in 2009,” she said, via UFC.com. “I was a waitress in a sports bar and was constantly exposed to the UFC events shown there. Having always been the rough and tumble tomgirl type, I was fascinated. As my interest grew, I found a gym and a trainer and I never looked back. What a fateful decision.

“As an amateur I was 9-3 in MMA. I won several regional titles along the way. I was also a three-time Muay Thai World champ through the IKF and TBA. I was a two-time North American champ through the WKA. I won two state Golden Gloves boxing titles, two regional Golden Gloves and 1 Women’s National Golden Gloves. I am also a two-time Naga World champ and a two-time North American Champ”

Currently, Lee trains at Karate Mafia, which has allowed her to focus full-time on improving her skill set.

“I live and train in the most serene place in the world. It’s a 20 acre “fight” ranch which is surrounded by a 40 acre lake complete with everything I need to train on the highest level. From agility fields to state of the art wrestling rooms, Muay Thai pavilions and even housing for incoming training partners,” she explained. “Because I’ve been able to eliminate the commute between gyms, it’s allowed me more time for both training and resting with my family because we rarely leave the ranch. Monday through Thursday, I do cardio from 8-845, strength or agility on alternating mornings from 845-945, Muay Thai from 10:00-1200, 12-1 free roll, rest for lunch 1-330, then back at 330 for MMA until 530. Friday is my rest day. Saturday is a half day – open bags and ring for heavy sparring. Sunday is a half day – open mat for three hours of gi training. ”

Lee is set to make her UFC debut on Saturday, May 19 against Veronica Macedo at UFC Fight Night 129 in Santiago, Chile. The event will air live on FOX Sports 1.

Sage Steele is the new co-anchor of ESPN’s 6:00 p.m. SportsCenter alongside Kevin Negandhi, however, she is anything but a new face at the Worldwide Leader. Initially offered a job with ESPN in 2004, she turned down the opportunity while she was pregnant with her second child. She later joined the network in March 2017 on the 6:00 p.m. ET edition of SportsCenter. Braea Tilford is a Louisville native who is the Miss Kentucky 2018. She succeeds Madelynne Myers. The 25-year-old, who became the first African-American woman to represent Kentucky in seven years, will be competing in this year’s Miss USA Pageant with the hopes of going on to compete for the biggest prize at Miss Universe. Tilford studied communications at the University of Louisville and has since earned a job as a digital content curator, public speaker, and founder of Grow Lead Inspire, which is a leadership conference for teens.

By winning Miss Kentucky, Braea says it will allow her “to fill her societal responsibility to elevate those in her community who are less fortunate, underserved or seeking to be empowered.”

Alexa Bliss’ real name is Alexis Kaufman. She was born on August 9, 1991, in Columbus, Ohio. She has been employed by WWE since May 2013, initially performing in the developmental brand known as NXT. During this time, she honed her abilities in the ring and competed with the best that brand had to offer, but failed to capture the NXT Women’s Championship. During her time with NXT, she was also the manager for NXT Tag Team Champions Blake and Murphy (for as long as they stayed successful).

In July 2016, Bliss made her way over to SmackDown Live as part of the WWE Draft. Tea Draganovic is the reigning Miss Idaho 2018 and will be representing her home state in the upcoming Miss USA beauty pageant. The 21-year-old succeeded Miss Idaho 2017 winner Taylor Lance. Draganovic, who loves to showcase her proud Bosnian heritage, graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Biology. She has continued her studies with hopes of becoming a physician assistant

Along with winning the Miss Idaho USA 2018 crown, Draganovic was awarded Lindenwood University Scholarship for her further studies, Cosmetics Gift Bag of Products and various modeling assignments.

Outside of beauty pageants, Draganovic works at a local hospital. She also coaches dance classes to young children for the Bosnian Cultural Center of Idaho.

Lauren Weaver, who was previously Miss Arkansas Teen USA 2014, continues to excel in the beauty pageant world and will now carry the Miss Arkansas USA 2018 crown into the Miss USA 2018 pageant next week. The 21-year-old succeeds 2017 winner Arynn Johnson, who was also a former Miss Arkansas Teen USA winner.

Weaver is set to be a first-generation college graduate from the University of Arkansas this month, where she will earn a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing. Weaver made the Dean’s list every year and is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

The Greenwood native has six siblings ranging from ages 1 to 22. Weaver uses her platform “to spread awareness and educate young women on the importance of early detection of breast cancer.” Her mother is an eight-year breast cancer survivor and is actively involved with Susan G. Komen of Arkansas. Weaver hopes to “empower young women around Arkansas to get fit by healthy eating and exercising, and to become more civic-minded by giving back to their community.”

Outside of the beauty pageant world, Weaver works as a model for brands such as Sherri Hill, Tony Bowls, Lauren James, Sam’s Club and Dillards, while also serving as a marketing intern for a local clothing line.

Genesis Davila is the reigning Miss Florida USA 2018. She was initially crowned Miss Florida USA 2017, but controversy erupted and she was stripped of the title for allegedly hiring outside hair and makeup professionals during the pageant instead of the ones the Miss USA organization provided. The violation of pageant rules led to Linette De Los Santos taking the crown. But now Davila, a former Miss World Puerto Rico, is ready to represent Florida in the Miss USA pageant.

The 27-year-old was born in Arroyo, Puerto Rico but eventually settled in Miami, Florida. She was the first Afro-Puerto Rican to represent Puerto Rico in Miss World.

Davila is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Nonprofit Management and Leadership after spending nearly a year in disaster relief efforts. She hopes to use her platform “to leverage herself as the leader of her nonprofit organization specializing in providing primary needs to those affected by natural disasters.” She organized more than 12 humanitarian flights to provide primary care from Florida to the Caribbean region during the most recent hurricane season.

Genesis Suero is the reigning Miss New York USA 2018 and will represent the state in the upcoming Miss USA pageant. The 26-year-old Dominican Republic-born pageant queen currently lives in Brooklyn and succeeded 2017 winner Hannah Lopa for the crown. Suero, whose full name is Genesis Camilla Suero, immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic at age 13 before becoming a United States citizen at age 21.

It was just two years ago that Genesis’ mother got to join her in the United States. Genesis had worked two jobs from the age of 15 to provide for her family and is currently pursuing her Real Estate license with the hopes of creating a Real Estate Firm that will allow job opportunities and support for immigrants.
