St. Louis County Jail

Karla Winterfield, a 33-year-old teacher in Duluth, Minnesota, is being held at St Louis County Jail after she was booked on charges of sexually assaulting a student. The alleged victim is reportedly between 13 and 15 years old. Police have said they do not believe there are any other victims.

Winterfield was being held on probable cause for third-degree criminal sexual conduct and was booked into the St. Louis County Jail on Monday, May 21. Winterfield, a teacher at Lincoln Park Middle School in Duluth, has been placed on administrative leave.

If found guilty, the criminal sexual conduct charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a fine of $30,000. She was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 23.

via CBS 3:

The district said it placed Winterfeld on administrative leave and is cooperating with the Duluth Police Department on their investigation. Police say the victim has been identified, and they haven’t been made aware of, or believe, there are other victims.

Winterfeld is a health teacher in Lincoln Park Middle School where she works with the district’s at-risk students and families, according to the ISD 709 website. In 2016 she received the Greg Irons Award for her work.

“She has an aptitude to see what needs to be done and carries out actions to address issues and to assist where needed. Students will tell you that Mrs. Winterfeld has been their inspiration at school and they have grown in strength and ability when facing life’s challenges due to her support,” a news release from the district said at the time.

Winterfeld also earned Duluth News Tribune’s 20 under 40 in 2016.

The Duluth School District released a statement on Tuesday, May 22, saying that they are fully cooperating with the police investigation and that the allegations against Winterfield are “shocking and disappointing and the safety and well-being of students is our topmost priority.”

Winterfield is just the latest teacher to be charged for an alleged relationship with a teenager student.  Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

In addition, 31-year-old Nicole Marie Andrews, 32-year-old Jessica Langford, 29-year-old Andrea Baber, 27-year-old Robin Dunlap, 27-year-old Jennifer Olajire-Aro have also been charged with these charges.

42-year-old Heather Butts of California was arrested on a second-degree felony charge, Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student, Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016 and 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship. 27-year-old Brittany Zamora from Arizona was arrested on similar charges. Keri Hoffman, 35, was also arrested for an alleged relationship with a student. More recently, 29-year-old Tiffany Ranweiler-Oblander was arrested on similar charges.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Writer Confirms Our Favorite Stark Was Cut From Season 7

HBO

While HBO is currently slinging that Westworld heat, it’s true Heavyweight Champion of the World — Game of Thrones — remains on the sidelines as the production of the eighth and final season is underway. But just because the show is still a year or so from being released does not mean that the news cycle ever stops. This is Game of Thrones we’re talking about, after all.

The latest tidbit of information from Westeros has less to do with the upcoming season & more to do with the previous. One of the biggest half-joking/half-serious questions about the seventh season of Game of Thrones was: where the hell is Jon Snow’s trusty direwolf Ghost? One would think Ghost would be the perfect companion to bring on Jon’s journey north of the wall, yet he was nowhere to be seen.

Many fans were quick to chalk up Ghost’s absence to budgetary purposes, but now finally have a definitive answer: Ghost was originally in a season 7 episode, but he was eventually cut.

via Uproxx:

Jon Snow wisely kept his direwolf from fighting in the Battle of the Bastards, and he’s apparently been resting at Winterfell with Sansa while his No-Nothing Owner traveled to meet Daenerys Targaryen at Dragonstone, but we haven’t actually seen Ghost since season six. According to writer Bryan Cogman on the Game of Thrones season seven DVD commentary, though, there was a scene with Jon and Ghost in season seven, but it was unfortunately cut.

“There was a bit where Jon came out of the crypt [in Winterfell] and Ghost came up to him and he petted him and said, ‘Take care of [Sansa], watch over her for me.’ But I guess those direwolves are expensive. I guess it got cut. Oh, well. Ghost is there somewhere roaming around,” Cogman said.

Ghost, Jon, Dany and the Game of Thrones universe is rumored to return in early 2019 with its final six episodes.

Santa Fe High Student Christian Garcia Saved The Lives Of Others By Sacrificing His Own

Amid the violent shooting rampage carried out at Santa Fe High School last Wednesday, May 18th, that ended in 10 fatalities, Christian Riley Garcia, a 15-year-old freshman, managed to save the lives of a girl whom he’d recently asked out on a date as well as another classmate, by sacrificing his own.

At the time of that attack, students were enjoying their Art class when it was interrupted by a crazed gunman yelling “surprise,” as he took aim at students and teachers in the hallways and in classrooms. Substitute teacher Ann Perkins, and students Christian Riley Garcia, Jai Gillard, and Courtney Marshall took cover in a closet after “smelling gunpowder” and their initial attempt to escape out the back door of the classroom failed, according to the Associated Press.

The personal account of Courtney Marshall, who survived the shooting does not include Gillard, but Gillard insists she was also saved by Christian Riley Garcia’s heroism as well.

First, the gunman fired through the closet door, killing Christian Riley Garcia, who was using his body as a barricade to prevent the shooter from entering the closet. He stopped the bullets from hitting Marshall, and the girl he recently asked on a date, Jai Gillard. The shooter then shot and killed Ms. Perkins as Marshall and Gillard were able to make an escape. Marshall remembers being fired at but she was not hit; she credits Christitan Riley Garcia with saving her life.

Marshall said before the gunman opened fire on the closet, Riley held on tight to the door. He tried to shield Courtney and Perkins. He was a hero, cause if he would never have been there,” said Marshall. “We pretty much would have been dead because we were stuck in that closet.”

Gillard remembers Riley Garcia as “always happy” and “very sweet”.

Christian Riely Garcia aspired to join the military and was a big history buff who loved Toby Keith music, football and just having fun, reports ABC channel 13 Eyewitness News.

A vigil was held at Crosby Church on Monday evening to honor his bravery and selflessness.

The MLB’s Best Player You’ve Never Heard Of

0
0

This guy had a .309 batting average with 10 home runs and 27 RBI’s at the end of April. Just taking a blind look at those numbers, you might think that those were put up by someone like Mike Trout or Kris Bryant.

Wrong, those came from Seattle Mariners’ right fielder Mitch Haniger. If he were in New York, LA or Boston, he would be on every billboard and in every commercial imaginable. But because he plays in Seattle, there are a lot of casual baseball fans who might have never even heard his name before.

Instagram Photo

Haniger has been a well-kept secret for the Mariners over the last two seasons after they acquired him and Jean Segura from the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was keeping pace with Aaron Judge and Andrew Benintendi during 2017’s AL Rookie of the Year race before two different DL stints put him down for the count, as he was only able to appear in 96 games. Haniger is currently batting .296 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI’s, and now has an even bigger opportunity to produce, as Robinson Cano’s injury and suspension has thrust him into the third spot in the order.

The Mariners, who are currently sitting in second place in the AL West at 28-19, are going to have to lean on Haniger a lot this year, as they have to get a monkey off their back. They currently are the not so proud owners of the record of the longest active postseason drought across all four major sports. Yeah, that’s right, the Cleveland Browns have been to the postseason more recently than the Mariners. They haven’t made the playoffs since 2001, when they set the MLB’s regular season record with 116 wins, and proceeded to get knocked out in the divisional round by the New York Yankees.

Instagram Photo

If Haniger can keep up what he’s been doing, he deserves serious All-Star consideration. But that’s not the ultimate goal for Haniger, he wants to break this postseason dry spell plaguing Seattle baseball. Maybe he can help bring some attention back to the team, who is currently sitting in the middle of the pack in attendance (the Mariners are seventh out of 15 in American League attendance) and in national coverage. The Mariners have a lot of talented pieces to be excited about, but none of them are bigger or more valuable than Mitch Haniger.

An Instagram Model & Her Friends Were Arrested For “Taking Too Long” In The Bathroom

Fulton County Ga. Jail

Three Atlanta women were arrested at a Houston’s in Atlanta for allegedly “taking too long” in the bathroom. The women, identified as Erica Walker, Brittany Lucio, and Asia’h Epperson, were arrested on Sunday, May 13. Epperson is a former American Idol finalist and Lucio is an actress.

The police report says an off-duty officer that was working an extra job as security for Houston’s was there at the time of the incident. The shift manager reportedly asked said officer to escort the three women out of the restroom because they came in to use the facilities after the restaurant had closed at 10 p.m. local time.

Authorities say the three women repeatedly ignored requests by management to leave and assaulted the off-duty officer before being detained. Video shared on Instagram shows the women on the ground with one threatening to call the “real police.”

via 11Alive:

When the officer went into the restroom, he found the three women, identified as Brittany Marie Lucio, Asia’h Sharrell Epperson and Erica Walker, all on their phones. The officer asked them to leave, but was met with no response. The officer asked again for them to leave, and instead, he said the three laughed while looking at their phones and again ignored the request. A third request also went ignored, according to the officer.

At that point, the report says the officer grabbed Lucio by the wrist, saying “Let’s go.” But when they got to the door of the restroom, the officer said the woman pulled away from his grip and shouted “Get your hands off of me!” to which the officer replied, “Ok. Just leave the restaurant.” Again, the officer wrote, the women refused to move. The officer grabbed Lucio’s wrist again and was able to get her outside the restaurant, where she shouted at the officer to “Get your f****** hands off me! You ain’t about to touch me.”

That’s when the officer said Lucio threw a punch at the officer’s mouth and head, one of them landing and causing two lacerations inside the mouth. The officer was able to grab ahold of the woman, and asked for staff to call 911 for backup. At this point, the officer had to restrain both Lucio and Walker down, and that’s when Epperson, a former American Idol finalist and actress on Greenleaf, pulled our her phone and began recording.

Lucio, Walker, and Epperson were all charged with Criminal Trespass and were booked into the Fulton County Jail. Lucio was given an additional charge of Felony Obstruction. Speaking to TMZ, Lucio claimed that race played a role in her treatment.

Capitals vs. Lightning Game 7 Live Stream: How to Watch NHL Playoffs Online

At long last, there is another game seven to determine who will face the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Finals. This series is between the Washington Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Both teams split the first six games of the series and now both teams have a winner-take-all situation in front of them. Expect this game to be extremely competitive as both teams will lay it all on the line with the hopes of potentially winning a championship.

Washington’s postseason success is due to its elite scoring depth which consists of Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and Evgeny Kuznetsov. During the regular season, Ovechkin led the team in points with 87 and had an astonishing 49 goals in 82 games. During the playoffs, Ovechkin has continued to score regularly and has 11 goals in just 18 playoff games. Backstrom missed part of the playoffs due to injuries but has managed to average over one point per game in 14 playoff games. Kuznetsov has been phenomenal this postseason and leads the team in points with 23. If the Capitals plan on winning this game, all three of them will need to be at their best.

The Lightning’s success has been due to its star goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. During this past offseason, the organization decided to part with longtime goalie Ben Bishop with the hopes of Vasilevskiy developing into an elite goalie. This season, Vasilevskiy proved that the team made the right decision as he went 44-17-3 with a 2.62 goals against average. His elite level of play has also carried over into the playoffs. In 16 starts, Vasilevskiy is 11-5 with a 2.55 goals against average. Now, he will look to shut down this potent Washington offense again on Wednesday night.

As for my prediction, I have to side with the Lightning. The Capitals are notoriously known for choking in big games and this might be the biggest game in franchise history. The Lightning are the better all-around team in my opinion and I expect it to show in this game seven.

Controversial conservative firebrand Tomi Lahren was back in the headlines. This time, it was because she was involved in a public altercation with a young woman named Jasmine Kohler. In a video that surfaced on social media, Lahren can be seen confronting the woman after she had water thrown on her during an argument. The incident took place during the brunch hours at a restaurant in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The 23-year-old Kohler has since deactivated all of her social media accounts once the video went public and began going viral.

Kohler is a student at the University of Minnesota and said that she would “dump a drink on [Lahren]” if her followers on Snapchat screenshotted her post at least five times. Once the screenshots happened, Kohler followed through. She was kicked out of the establishment once she threw the water on Lahren and was confronted. According to the Daily Mail, it was actually Kohler’s friend Libby Parker who began the verbal confrontation with Lahren at the restaurant, calling her a “racist piece of s***” and a “f****** piece of human garbage trash.”

Here is video of the incident:

“[Jasmine] absolutely shares my feelings and she was also upset that Tomi was in our city. It’s Minneapolis, it’s a very traditional, democratic city. So she knew, we all knew. She shares feelings about how she is racist and says awful things about people,” Parker said in an interview with the Daily Mail.

After the incident, Lahren received praise from Donald Trump.

Brittany Lucio: Hottest Photos on the Internet

Brittany Lucio is a gorgeous actress and Instagram model with almost 100,000 followers on Instagram. Lucio, a former Miss USA contestant from California back in 2015, also used to date NBA Champion Golden State Warrior Klay Thompson.

In 2018, Lucio made headlines after she was arrested at a Houston’s in Atlanta. According to the police reports, an off-duty officer that was working as security for Houston’s attempted to escort the three women — Lucio & her two friends, Erica Walker and Asia’h Epperson — out of the restroom because they came in to use the facilities after the restaurant had closed at 10 p.m. local time.

While authorities say that the three women repeatedly ignored requests by management to leave and assaulted the off-duty officer before being detained, a video posted on Instagram shows the women on the ground with one threatening to call the “real police.” Furthermore, Lucio claims that race played a role in their arrest and the way they were treated.

via TMZ:

One of the 3 actresses busted at Houston’s firmly believes her skin color played a role in the aggressive way the security guard took her down, and she says the restaurant’s track record proves it.

Brittany Marie Lucio tells us Houston’s and cops are lying about what went down before she and her friends got dragged out of the Atlanta restaurant and put in handcuffs. She takes serious issue with what she believes was excessive force used to remove them.

One of the friends, Asia’h Epperson, told us she was shocked cops arrested them instead of the security guard. Ditto for Brittany, who said she’s fully aware of the issues that prompted T.I. to boycott a different Atlanta-area Houston’s last year.

Lucio was charged with criminal trespassing and felony obstruction and was booked into the Fulton County Jail.

Cavaliers vs. Celtics Game 5 Live Stream: How to Watch NBA Playoffs Online

0

With NBA Eastern Conference Finals well underway, the series is dead even. This series is between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. The Celtics entered the season with hopes of dethroning the Cavaliers as Eastern Conference champions. So far this series, the home team has dominated every game. Now, the series is returning to Boston where the Celtics are undefeated this postseason. However, the Cavaliers need to win either game five or game seven on the road in order to return to the NBA Finals. Expect the Cavaliers to lay it all on the line tonight in what should be a competitive contest.

Cleveland’s success is due to its best player LeBron James. In the regular season, James  averaged 27.5 points per game on an absurd shooting percentage of 54.2% from the floor. However, James has been even better in the postseason. In 15 playoff games, James has averaged 33.7 points per game along with 9.0 assists and 8.7 rebounds per game. Although he is in his 15th NBA season, James has showed no signs of slowing down and the Celtics seem to have no way of stopping him. Expect James to have a huge game if the Cavaliers plan on winning this contest.

Boston’s regular season success was due to its star point guard Kyrie Irving. During the offseason, the Celtics shocked the NBA world by trading its star point guard Isaiah Thomas to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving. Since joining the Celtics, Irving was phenomenal and was also a borderline MVP candidate. This season, Irving averaged 24.4 points per game along with 5.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds. However, Irving will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

In Irving’s absence, young players like Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have taken over most of the team’s scoring duties. In his second NBA season, Brown averaged 14.5 points per game and 4.9 rebounds a game while shooting a respectable 46.5% from the field. In his rookie season, Tatum averaged 13.9 points per game along with 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 47.5% from the floor. If Boston wants to win this game and ultimately the series without its best player, Brown and Tatum will need to play extremely well.

As for my prediction, I have to side with the Cavaliers. Although the Celtics are clearly the better team, one does not simply doubt LeBron reaching the finals again. The Cavaliers desperately do not want to return to Boston for game seven and I personally think that LeBron will carry them to a road victory tonight.

Ex-MLB Star Lenny Dykstra Arrested For Allegedly Pulling Gun On Uber Driver

Former professional baseball player Lenny Dykstra was arrested on Wednesday, May 23, in Linden, New Jersey on charges he threatened an Uber driver while in possession of various drugs.

According to authorities, the driver, an unidentified 47-year-old Roselle man, told police that when he turned down Dykstra’s request to change his destination, Dykstra allegedly pulled out a gun, pointed it at the man’s head and threatened to kill him.

While police didn’t find a weapon on Dykstra, he had cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy on him when police took him into custody around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23.

via NJ.com:

The driver, a 47-year-old Roselle man, told police he picked up Dykstra in Linden. When the driver turned down Dykstra’s request to change his destination, the ex-major league player allegedly pulled out a gun, pointed it at the man’s head and threatened to kill him.

The driver got the attention of police by speeding into a parking garage next to the police station and repeatedly honking his horn before stopping at headquarters, police said. The Uber driver then ran from his car, according to police.

Dykstra, 55, was charged with making terroristic threats and possession of cocaine, marijuana and MDMA. He was released with a summons and is due to appear in Union County Superior Court in Elizabeth in June.

Dykstra is former Major League Baseball player who played for the New York Mets from 1985 to 1989 and the Philadelphia Phillies from 1989 to 1996. This is just the latest of a long line of Dykstra run-ins with law enforcement.

Sterling Brown Arrest Video: Why Was The Compliant Bucks Rookie Brutalized?

0
0

At about 2 A.M. on January 26, Milwaukee Bucks rookie Sterling Brown did something most 22-year-olds in Wisconsin would consider during a Walgreens run in the dead of a below-freezing night: park as close as possible to the store. Brown made a choice he likely wouldn’t have in the light of day, taking up designated handicapped space. He made a choice he wouldn’t have if he’d expected to be harassed by police officers, tased, and arrested for it. Because usually in Milwaukee, if you’re caught parking in a handicapped zone while unauthorized, you’re issued a $200 citation. You’re not subject to arrest, let alone violent arrest.

And yet, Brown was arrested–by a police officer doing a “business check”–on a “tentative misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing an officer”. For a then-undisclosed reason, “an electronic control device was deployed”. Brown was tased and brutalized before he was taken into custody for allegedly resisting arrest, and according to the Milwaukee PD’s statement, a simple conversation became an “incident”, escalating rather quickly into a questionable use of force.

On May 23, the body camera footage was released. Brown, upon exiting the Walgreens, is questioned for several minutes by a single officer beside Brown’s Mercedes. The officer wastes no time calling for “another squad”. He then instructs Brown to “back up” but makes it unclear where to or how far. He asks, “are you obstructing me?” and later accuses Brown of having been “in his face” (Brown visibly was not). The officer accuses Brown of trying to get back into the car, and tells him, “I own this right here.” Brown replies, “you don’t own me, though.” The officer accuses Brown of handing him a fake ID.

As the officer continues to escalate the situation, Brown explains that he simply went “in and out” of the drug store; a young woman was in the parked car while Brown was inside, supporting Brown’s claim. A moment later, Brown wonders out loud why the officer is drawing out the encounter and waiting for his “partner” instead of simply writing out the parking ticket. The officer responds, “you had time to park across these lanes here, so we’re gonna wait a little longer.”

At least four additional squad cars arrive at the scene; it’s unclear precisely how many, but visibly, close to a dozen total extra officers show up. Brown continues to ask questions of them, but he is, quite obviously, neither threatening nor combative. Just after the eight-minute mark, one officer, out of the camera’s view, suddenly implores Brown, “get your hands out of your pockets, now!” Brown, who’d had his hands in his pockets for most of the encounter, is not given much time to obey before five officers begin wrestling him to the asphalt. One yells, “taser, taser, taser!” and Brown can be heard groaning in pain on the ground. The stun gun is then employed.

At around the 13:30 mark, Brown, still on the ground but out of view, can be heard in conversation with the initiating officer. The officer says, “I asked you to step back and you didn’t do it,” implying that something that took place seven minutes before the altercation is the real reason why Sterling was tased and handcuffed.

After Brown’s car is searched, the initiating officer can be heard reconciling the encounter to another: “I thought, okay, [Brown]’s being an ass, he’s trying to hide something.” He then points out that he has “no idea” what to do next, and asks the other officer who’d run Brown’s information, “did he have anything? … No warrants?” Sterling did not have any warrants.

At about 23:50, Brown, standing up and in handcuffs, asks the initiating officer, “what are we waiting for?” The officer responds, “we’ve got all night long, man” and claims to not “have all the answers”. Brown expresses confusion: the officer who “initiated everything” does not know what’s supposed to happen next. The officer then brings up Brown’s status, taunting, “sorry, I don’t follow the Bucks … I didn’t recognize your famous name.” Brown contests, “that’s fine, you don’t need to,” emphasizing that his career is irrelevant to the situation.

The officer begins again, “I [just] wanted to talk to you about [the parked car]”, and Brown points out that while the two could have talked, the officer chose to do more. The officer again brings up how Brown did not “back up” in precisely the manner he preferred him to, insisting again that this is the reason Brown is under arrest.

In a personal statement released soon after the arrest video surfaced, Brown acknowledges that the nightmarish experience has given him a heightened sense of responsibility:

I am speaking for Dontre Hamilton of Milwaukee, Laquan McDonald of Chicago, Stephon Clark of Sacramento, Eric Garner of New York, and the list goes on. These people aren’t able to speak anymore because of unjust actions by those who are supposed to “serve and protect” the people.

He points to recurring themes in all of these cases: racism, power, and a lack of police accountability. Sterling also acknowledges that “there must be mutual respect and both sides have to figure out how to accomplish [reform].” He confirms that he will be suing the police department, and promises to work diligently and peacefully to combat similar police-based injustices in his community.

The Milwaukee Bucks released their own statement, condemning the “abuse and intimidation” of Sterling, calling it “shameful and inexcusable”. The organization vehemently acknowledges that this isn’t an isolated incident, and calls for police accountability on a nationwide scale.

Incidents like this remind us of the injustices that persist.  As an organization, we will support Sterling and build on our work with local leaders and organizations to foster safe neighborhoods and better our community.

By acknowledging that professional athletes falling through the cracks of a broken police system is a symptom of a greater disease, the Bucks organization has positioned itself as eager and willing to devote significant energy to combat the damaging systemic racism that afflicts all Black people.

In an official statement issued in conjunction with the video of Brown’s arrest, Police Chief Alfonso Morales said, “I am sorry the incident escalated to this level,” and revealed that an internal investigation had concluded. Members of the department “acted inappropriately” and were recently disciplined, though it is unclear to what extent.

Instagram Photo

Face covered in bruises, Sterling played 27 minutes in a home game against the Brooklyn Nets on the evening following his arrest. When questioned about the incident prior to the game, the rookie asked for respect for his privacy around the “personal issue”; subsequently, Bucks interim head coach Joe Prunty expressed unconditional support for Brown on behalf of the team.

Charges against Brown were never pursued. An internal police department investigation was opened up, and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett publicly expressed hope for “a transparent process here for the public”. In a curious, since-deleted statement issued in January to city officials calling for unbridled support of the officers in question, Milwaukee Police Association president Mike Crivello insisted, “to be clear, the offender was not arrested solely for illegally parking a vehicle — his action determined the outcome.” But earlier in the statement, Crivello acknowledged a lack of familiarity with the situation, griping, “Buck’s [sic] leadership is supporting their guy – quite honest [he] looks to be 100% in the wrong! Of course, that is my non-investigated opinion.” Crivello’s frantic scrambling now looks a lot like a litmus test for guilt.

In another peculiar move by Milwaukee PD representatives, Assistant Police Chief Michael Brunson Sr. addressed a Black church on May 20 with a telling warning and odd plea:

“There’s going to be a video that is going to come out soon, in the next couple of weeks, involving the department. I’m going to be honest with you. We’re going to need your support during the challenges.”

Nearly four months after the initial incident, it was not immediately clear that Brunson was referencing the footage of Brown’s arrest in particular. Knowing what we do today, Brunson was confident that the evidence would be damning.

Instagram Photo

On Monday, May 21, it was reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that video of Brown’s violent arrest would be made available to the public “soon”. Mayor Barrett told the media Monday, “I definitely have concerns after watching that video”, and called the evidence “disturbing”. An unnamed source who also viewed the footage ahead of its release said, “this could be bad … the player doesn’t appear to be provocative at all.”

Milwaukee’s police officers have long been notorious for their high-volume use of tasers, marketed not as “nonlethal” but as “less-lethal” than firearms. Earlier this May, a 25-year-old man named Demetrious Lowe was violently taken down by at least six Milwaukee officers and arrested during a mental health episode; a taser was involved. One officer was subsequently suspended, while three others were placed on administrative duty.

Overall, Milwaukee has a pitiful track record when it comes to use of force. According to the Sentinel, “police misconduct has cost Milwaukee taxpayers at least $17.5 million in legal settlements [from 2015 to 2017], forcing the city to borrow money to make the payouts amid an ever-tightening budget.”

Tuesday, May 22 saw another substantial development when it was announced that Brown is planning to file a civil lawsuit against the Milwaukee Police Department. In the same report, more sources confirmed to the Sentinel that Brown was visibly compliant in the body camera footage. At the time Tuesday, no officers had been disciplined and the internal review remained open. Strategically, Milwaukee PD released a pandering, pro-police video message–laden with citizens and officers of color and basketball imagery–the same day. Chief Morales rather ominously emphasizes, “in those instances where we have made mistakes and are wrong, I’m sorry.”

On ESPN’s The Jump Tuesday, retired NBA player Stephen Jackson put the reality of this plainly: “you can have all the money in the world, you could be successful, you could be an NBA or football player, but you’re still Black at the end of the day.” Sterling Brown did not pose a discernible threat to the police officers who arrested him. He was compliant and nonviolent. Yet, he was brutalized and arrested over a parking spot based on his appearance. Brown has money, is a recognizable face in the city of Milwaukee, and had a great rookie season–these attributes mean nothing so long as he’s perceived as a danger to society.

Paul Pierce adds, “this is what young Black kids, young Black adults have been going through in America. … I’ve been a victim of being handcuffed for no reason by the police.” Jackson acknowledges the theme of respect between Black citizens and police officers, or the lack thereof: “As a man, if I’m doing something wrong, somebody can tell me that I’m doing something wrong, and I can understand that–without you putting your hands on me.”

Sterling Brown’s choice to sue the Milwaukee PD is a courageous step. He is setting an example for those who may be afraid to take legal action, and hopefully he will set a new precedent for police accountability.

In October 2015, Brown’s teammate John Henson was racially profiled in nearby Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. While attempting to shop for watches at a jewelry store, employees locked the front door and called the police. Henson was not arrested, but called the experience “degrading”.

In April 2018, another teammate of Brown’s, All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo, was refused service at a local restaurant following a playoff game.

Daniel Craig Net Worth 2018: How Much Is Craig Worth Now?

The name is Craig, Daniel Craig. The current in a long line of James Bond stars is an English television and film actor. Craig is best known for his leading role in the recent installments in the James Bond movie franchise, starting in 2006 with the release of Casino Royale.

Daniel Craig Net Worth as of 2018: $95 Million

Craig has accumulated his wealth through a variety of roles in both tv and film, but to no surprise has generated the majority of his money due to starring in the James Bond franchise.

Early Life

Instagram Photo

Craig was born on March 2, 1968, in Chester England. As a child, he often attended the local theater with his mother and sisters, which is where he credited falling in love with the thought of becoming an actor. At the age of 16, Daniel moved to London to join the National Youth Theatre, followed by him studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

1996-2001

While Craig received his first role in a film in 1992 in The Power of One, his first big break came when he got the role of Geordie Peacock in the British miniseries Our Friends in the North in 1996. After this, Craig received roles in various television series, such as Tales From the Crypt, The Ice House, and The Hunger, as well as a few films like ObsessionLove and Rage, and I Dreamed of Africa, but he put his name on the map when he starred in the 2001 hit movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

2005-Present

It was announced in 2005, that Craig would be next in the long line of James Bond actors. Although it was questioned by many at first, his debut Bond film Casino Royale which released in 2006 proved everyone wrong. Earning almost $600 million worldwide, it became the highest grossing Bond film ever. That is until a couple installments later when Skyfall released in 2012 generated $1.1 billion internationally. Craig followed this up with the 2015 release of Spectre, which upon release broke the UK’s record for the highest grossing film within seven days of its release, dethroning its predecessor in Skyfall. After being thrust into stardom upon the release of Casino Royale, Daniel’s movie career took off, receiving leading roles in films such as The Invasion, The Golden Compass, Cowboys and Aliens, Dream House, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Logan Lucky.

In 2010, Craig began dating his Dream House co-star Rachel Weisz, and the two eventually married in 2011, marking Craig’s second marriage. He was formerly married in 1992 to Scottish actress Fiona Loudon. The two had a child named Ella but split in 1994. While age is beginning to play a factor in the roles he will be able to receive, Bond 25 has already been announced and is set to premiere in 2019. It has begun to be speculated that since Craig is now 50, his days as 007 may be numbered. While we are not sure what the future holds for him as far as playing James Bond goes, this could perhaps be the sendoff he needs, seeing as how it was recently announced in April that his wife Rachel (age 48) is pregnant with his child. With most of his life dedicated to acting and a child on the way, it appears Craig may be looking to take on a different kind of adventure.

These Rihanna Savage x Fenty Photos Are … Truly Something

Is there anything Rihanna can’t do? She sings, she dances, she cucks Drake to the moon and back, probably rolls a mean blunt, she sells make-up and now she’s a lingerie designer/model. In case Rihanna wasn’t already your dream girl, she definitely should be now. Need further convincing? Just click through the gallery above and you’ll be easily converted to the Church of Rihanna.

Rihanna’s latest endeavor is a lingerie line, called Savage x Fenty, with internationally known fashion house Fenty. Rihanna collaborated with Fenty in 2017 to launch their make-up line. According to Harper’s Bazaar, while the Fenty Beauty Line just launched in September of 2017, it’s already on track to outsell Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics brand, which has already been established for two years. That’s the Rihanna effect for ya.

While the Savage x Fenty line officially launched on May 11, let’s hope that doesn’t mean the end of Rihanna’s promotion of it, because, well …

First Rihanna dominated pop music, then she took over the make-up industry, now she’s about to take over the lingerie game. We can’t wait to see what she does next.

Massachusettes Institute of Technology police is investigating an alleged rape inside a fraternity house. On Wednesday, May 23, an alert was sent out to the MIT community about the incident. The victim told authorities that the alleged rape happened on May 19 during a party at Theta Delta Chi on Memorial Drive.

According to reports, while the victim and suspect talked during the party, they did not know each other before that night. They went back to the suspect’s bedroom in the fraternity house. MIT Police said the victim made it clear to the suspect that she did not want to have sex with the man. However, despite this, the unidentified perpetrator had non-consensual sexual intercourse with the victim. The unidentified woman left the bedroom immediately after.

At this time, MIT police do not currently have a description of the suspect and have not released the alleged assailant’s identity. That is all the information available at this time.

This is just the latest instance of a rape allegation at an American college campus. In May 2018, a former University of Nebraska student sued the Chi Phi fraternity for rape. Also in Spring of 2018, Ari Goldstein, a former President of a Temple University fraternity, was charged with rape. In December 2017, Missouri State University police investigated an alleged rape at the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity. In addition, over the course of the past year, fraternities at Northwestern University, the University of Minnesota, Indiana University, Clemson University and the University of Central Florida have been investigated for alleged rapes.

Meta Lovely, a 54-year-old teacher in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is under arrest due to allegations that she had sexual relations with an underaged student. Local authorities say that Lovely was arrested on Wednesday, May 23.

According to AL.com, the police department’s Juvenile Division was alerted on May 2 about the possible improper relationship between Lovely, a substitute at Tuscaloosa City Schools, and an unidentified student. What You Need To Know About The Champions League Final

0

It’s the news you’ve all been waiting for! The two finalists for the 2017/2018 UEFA Champions League have officially been announced. In this corner, wearing crimson-red, stands the Liverpool underdogs. And in this corner, basking in the glow of their many past victories stands 12-time Champions League winners, Real Madrid. The match is set to take place on May 26, 2018, in NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine with kick-off at 7:45pm UK time. Here’s what to expect.

Instagram Photo

One of Cristiano Ronaldo’s hobbies is collecting hat-tricks, and he’s determined to get one of his biggest ones yet. Real previously won the 2016 and 2017 league title, and winning this year’s would be the cherry on top of a semi-melted sundae because let’s face it– Real hasn’t performed all that well compared to previous seasons. In the semi-final 2-2 match against Bayern Munich, Real was outperformed. Bayern appeared physically stronger than Real and had ample opportunities, but at the end of the day, the team blew some crucial shots. That being said, Liverpool has also been a bit shaky this season. Ahem, the match against Roma on May 2nd. The 4-2 loss was not exactly the outcome that Liverpool expected.

Instagram Photo

Nonetheless, guided by manager Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool is leading the league in goals. The club currently has a total of 40 goals, while Real has 30. The English team is also backed by a very distinguished trio: Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. Though the team’s style of play has been described as reckless by some, a strong attack coupled with a very passionate and spirited coach may carry Liverpool to victory. To be fair, there’s no arguing that Real is a talented team. Their past speaks for itself, and superstar Ronaldo definitely has the stats to back him. Not to mention Real manager Zinedine Zidane. He’s only the third coach in history to reach three consecutive Champions League finals. Really the outcome of the game could go either way. It wouldn’t be the first time we were surprised by the final score of a match this season.

Instagram Photo

Some have claimed this is a personal match against Champions League top scorer Ronaldo and Premier League’s top scorer Salah. However, Salah has denied this stating that his team as a whole is responsible for making it to the finals because he could not have done it alone. Regardless, having these two prolific players on the field at the same time will definitely heighten the entertainment aspect of the game. So get ready. It’s a match where you’re going to wanna grab some popcorn.

Here Is Kanye West’s New Verse On Pusha T’s Upcoming Album

The 2018 Kanye West Story continues, as a clip of his new feature verse on Pusha T’s ‘DAYTONA’ album has leaked on the internet. The verse will appear on Pusha T’s upcoming album ‘DAYTONA’, which is set to be released on Friday, May 25. As for Kanye himself, his own new album will drop on June 1, and a collaboration with Kid Cudi titled “Kids See Ghost”, is due out on June 8.

While I’m far from being a music expert (music is the least of my pop cultural interests when it comes to movies, TV, and music), but this new verse is absolutely … average? Like, the rhymes are decent, but the “poop scoop” nonsense forced in at the beginning just puts a bad taste in my mouth from the get-go.

Kanye is like that guy from high school who would make fun of the substitute teacher and think he was being hilarious, but really everyone in class just thought he was an asshole. That’s what Kanye has devolved into, which is a shame because his first five albums (College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) were as epic of a run as any rapper has ever had.

Who knows … maybe Kanye West has been able to turn all this madness surrounding him into an album of bangers. Or maybe half of the tracks are just him rhyming words that end with “oop” because he thinks he’s making some sort of profound statement on the nation’s racial relations. All I truly know is … I miss the old Kanye.
