The Jefferson County Courthouse is being evacuated due to a bomb threat that was received this morning. A 911 caller threatened to blow up the courthouse located in Beaumont, Texas. At this time, no one is hurt. Everyone at the courthouse reportedly told to evacuate and leave the area in their cars or on foot.

The bomb threat at the Jefferson County Courthouse is just the latest in a string of lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States. Over the course of the past few years, shootings, lockdowns and bomb threats such as these have happened far too often, with the nation’s lawmakers struggling to come up with effective solutions.

In a series of quickly-deleted Tweets, Carib B publicly pondered how utterly incredible it is that Childish Gambino and Donald Glover look so similar. In fact, they look so similar that Cardi B even wondered if they could low-key be the same person.

To Cardi’s credit, I, too, was once unaware that Donald Glover and Childish Gambino were the same person … back in like 2012. What makes this even more surprising is that Donald Glover literally may be the most sought-after talent in entertainment right now, given that he’s succeeded in nearly every avenue that pop culture has to offer: music, TV & movies.

In the last couple of months alone, the second season of the Glover-helmed hit Atlanta came out, he dropped the Earth-shattering music video for This Is America, and starred in a f*cking Star Wars movie as Lando Calrissian. If that isn’t a triple threat, I don’t know what is.

But we’ll give Cardi a pass on this one considering she’s pregnant and has far more important things to worry about.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will feature three events in the month of June, with three extra fight cards thanks to Dana White’s Contender Series. Starting today and for the next two days, the best spellers from around the world will gather for the 2018 version of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. This will be the 91st edition of the competition, which has grown in capacity and popularity over the past half-century. Looking ahead at this year’s event, it will be the 25th year that ESPN has wall to wall coverage shown around the country.

ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and the ESPN App will combine to present more than 24 live hours of the 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bee ESPN’s Matt Barrie will host the 91st Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee alongside 1990 finalist, Paul Loeffler.

A time-honored tradition, the Scripps National Spelling Bee will have its most competitors in its history. 516 spellers will descend upon National Harbor, Maryland with the dream to be deemed the greatest speller on the planet. The spellers for this year’s event come from all around the 50 states and range from eight to 15 years of age.

The preliminaries take place today and end tomorrow morning. If you’re looking for the finals of the event, they begin on May 31 starting at 10 a.m. The closing portion of the competition will take place later that night at 8:30 p.m.

As fate would have it, the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be competing in the 2018 NBA Finals for the fourth consecutive year. Yawn. The experts in Las Vegas have already designated insane title odds to the Dubs, meaning the Cavs are the biggest (or tiniest? under-est?) underdogs since 2001, when Allen Iverson carried the 76ers to five noble games against Shaq, Kobe, Ty Lue, and the Lakers. However dreadfully these next 4-7 games play out, the least we can do is acknowledge that we’re watching history unfold. With a heavy emphasis on 2016, let’s take a look back at the best moments of the Warriors/Cavaliers saga.

7. Andre Saves the Series

With Kevin Love already out with a shoulder injury sustained earlier in the 2015 postseason, the Cavs took another blow in Game 1 of the 2015 Finals when Kyrie Irving fractured his left kneecap. Down two All-Stars, LeBron still managed to carry his depleted team to a 2-1 series lead. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an executive decision in response: insert Andre Iguodala into the starting lineup in place of Andrew Bogut. The Death Lineup — the original one, featuring Harrison Barnes instead of Kevin Durant — was born. Iguodala scored 22 points in Game 4, and his series-swinging defense on LeBron ultimately earned him Finals MVP honors.

6. Cavs’ Insane First Quarter

Down 3-0 to their seemingly inexhaustible rivals, the Cavaliers did what they had to do in Game 4 of the 2017 Finals: generate a record-breaking game. En route to handing the Warriors their first postseason loss of the year and avoiding a sweep, the Cavs scored 49 first-quarter points and 87 overall first-half points. The Cavs hit 24 total threes in the game, one short of their own playoffs record, set one year earlier against the Hawks.

5. Kevin’s Shot

With the Cavs up 113-111 with less than a minute left in Game 3 of the 2017 Finals, Kevin Durant made a gutsy choice. Off of a Kyle Korver miss that could have iced a Cavs win and actually made the series competitive, KD secured the rebound and took three seconds to dribble up to his spot on the left wing. He let it fly. LeBron was half a second too late on the contest, not that it would have mattered–it’s not like anyone can block a Durant jumper anyway. With the biggest shot of his career, Kevin put the Warriors up by one, enabling them to take a 3-0 lead over the Cavs and cementing his own case for 2017 Finals MVP.

4. Klay vs. LeBron

Klay Thompson, the most measured (read: chill) man in the NBA, had some choice words for a certain King James after Game 4 of the 2016 Finals. This came on the heels of LeBron talking about Draymond Green going “overboard” with his trash talk–the very talk that stemmed from LeBron stepping over Draymond, Draymond taking a shot at LeBron’s undercarriage, and Draymond eventually being suspended for Game 5. Klay concludes that LeBron’s feelings got hurt, and issues him a reminder: “this is a man’s league.” In response, LeBron laughed a lot, then won the next three games and the title.

3. Draymond vs. LeBron

That brings us to the altercation itself. In the fourth quarter of Game 4, Draymond set an interesting screen on LeBron, then flopped, then felt disrespected when LeBron stepped over him. The two argued for the rest of the play, but only a double foul was assessed. At the time, Draymond was one flagrant foul or two technicals away from suspension. Upon league review, he was penalized with a flagrant two days later and subsequently suspended for Game 5. Thus initiated a domino effect on a 73-win team blowing a 3-1 lead.

2. The Block

Mike Breen’s “BLOCKED BY JAMES!” ranks high on the list of top sports soundbites. With the title on the line late in Game 7, LeBron–described by Richard Jefferson as a “black blur”–came hurdling up the court as Steph Curry and Andre Iguodala thought they were enjoying a 2-on-1 fast break on J.R. Smith. The result? One of the most clutch moments of LeBron’s career.

1. The Shot

Game 7 of the 2016 Finals was one of the greatest contests in NBA history — until late in the fourth quarter, of course, when nobody could buy a bucket. Neither team had scored since the 4:39 mark, when Klay tied the game at 89; LeBron’s block on Iguodala came at the 1:50 mark, extending the scoring drought and deepening the tension. Finally — finally — Kyrie took Steph to school in classic Uncle Drew style, draining an absurd fadeaway three. Kyrie put the Cavs up by three with 53 seconds to go, and they never looked back. Steph and the Warriors continued to make terrible offensive decisions down the stretch, losing the title on their home floor. The Cavaliers made history as the first team to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals, and the city of Cleveland could finally enjoy its first major league sports championship in 52 years.

Honorable Mention: The Dunk That Would Have Shattered the Internet

Instead of dribbling out the shot clock with a three-point lead, LeBron tried to dunk Draymond into Middle Earth with just over ten seconds to go in Game 7. It didn’t work, and LeBron may or may not have hurt his wrist, but the idea of the completed dunk is absolutely tantalizing. It likely would have overtaken The Block as the lasting image of the historic series. LeBron was fouled and made one free throw to make it a two-possession game, putting the 2016 title out of reach for the Dubs.

Honorable Mention: J.R. Forever

J.R. Smith showed up to Game 4 of the 2015 Finals on a hoverboard.

He also abandoned shirts after winning the 2016 title.

President Obama personally requested, via Tyronn Lue, that J.R. resume wearing shirts.

An unidentified male undergraduate student at Northwestern University is in intensive care after falling from the upper floor of a fraternity house. According to a spokesman for the university, the male student fell from the Pi Kappa Alpha house on Monday, May 28. The student fell four stories.

According to reports, University spokesman Al Cubbage said the male student was transported to Evanston Hospital after the fall. Furthermore, Cubbage said that there is no indication that the incident occurred during a party or activity at the fraternity house. While the university did not release the student’s neame, Cubbage said the student’s parents were with him at the hospital.

At this time, Northwestern University police are investigating. In a statement from Pi Kappa Alpha Chief Marketing Officer Brent Phillips, the chapter is cooperating in the investigation.

“A young man fell from the roof of the Gamma Rho Chapter house on Monday, May 29, 2018. Out of respect for the young man, the family, and friends, the Chapter will refrain from further comment at this time. The Chapter is cooperating with authorities and is appreciative of the support of the Northwestern University administration and counseling center at this time.”

At the time of this writing, information about the student’s condition was not immediately available. Police are currently investigating how the student fell.

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino isn’t exactly the breadwinner of his team. That title goes to Mohamed Salah who paves the way in goals for the club by far– his Golden Boot Award sitting on a shelf somewhere in his mansion can attest to that. However, Firmino plays a different role for Liverpool. If Salah is the parent out at work every day making bank, then Firmino is the stay-at-home parent holding down the fort, driving the kids to soccer practice after making them a delicious dinner and helping out with the homework, and then additionally making sure that everything else is in order. The Brazilian is arguably Liverpool’s most important player.

Firmino is incredibly unselfish, always tirelessly running to open areas on the field, and is both playmaker and goalscorer. Humble Beginnings

Born in Maceio Alagoas, Brazil on October 2, 1991, Firmino grew up in a dangerous environment. His parents were constantly trying to protect him from the gang and gun-infested streets of their city. As a result, his mother often banned Firmino from leaving his home. When he did go out, he would walk the streets with his father selling water bottles to bring in some cash for their family.

The neighbors caught sight of the 8-year-old playing and notified his parents of the talent he possessed. His mother then let up and allowed Firmino to play soccer outside. At 14, with the kindness of a coach at his local club, Firmino was able to finally leave the slums. The coach, Luiz had seen Firmino play frequently in the streets. The boy was always without shoes since his family couldn’t afford them, but Luiz saw the the skill Firmino had despite this. Luiz paid for Firmino’s travel, expenses and drove him to all his games.

A breakthrough came when at 16, he signed with Tombense in Brazil. From there, he was sent out on a loan to Figueirense, a second division club. During one of the games for this team, a German scout took notice of Firmino and quickly recruited him to the German club, Hoffenheim.

You Have Now Entered The Pro Zone

In 2010, Firmino signed a five-year contract with Hoffenheim. In the 2013/2014 season, he scored 22 goals for the club. It was during this time he won Bundesliga’s Breakthrough Player award. In November 2014, he made his first national debut with the Brazilian National Team. Then in June 2015, he transferred to Liverpool after signing a £29m deal.

For the first few months, Firmino played under former Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers. It wasn’t until Jurgen Klopp took over, who was a big fan of Firmino, that the South American became a first-team regular.

Under Klopp’s Guidance

Shortly thereafter, Firmino improved significantly as a player. In January 2016, he was named Liverpool’s Player of the Month. He finished the 2015/2016 season as Liverpool’s top scorer with 10 goals, and then beat that record in the following season with 11 goals. In the beginning of the 2017/2018 season, Firmono’s former number 11 jersey was replaced with his current number 9.

He has since ended this past season with 15 goals. Additionally, Firmino has recently been honored with a song courtesy of Klopp. The manager noted that Firmino didn’t have a chant, and wanted to change that. Lindsay Gottlieb, the head women’s basketball coach at the University of California, is in the headlines after airing her grievances with Southwest Airlines on social media. Gottlieb says she was flying with the airline from Denver to Oakland when she was asked by an employee at the ticket counter to “prove” that her one-year-old biracial son was her child.

“I’m appalled that after approx 50 times flying with my 1-year-old son, ticket counter personnel told me I had to ‘prove’ that he was my son, despite having his passport. She said because we have different last name. My guess is because he has a different skin color,” Gottlieb wrote on Twitter. “She first asked for proof with birth certificate. She then said it’s a ‘federal law’ (not true) but asked me to prove I’m the mother with a Facebook post. What? Mother next to me said she’s never been asked for proof despite a different last name… not shockingly, not mixed face fam.

“It was demeaning and insensitive, not to mention inefficient. Would have missed the flight if it was not delayed. I would advise better training for employees to avoid this happening to others.”

Gottlieb was traveling with her son and fiance Patrick Martin. They had initially traveled to show their support for one of her players who was in Colorado at the Team USA basketball trials. Southwest Airlines has since apologized in a statement to KPIX 5-San Francisco.

“We’re looking into this specific interaction, and we have engaged with the customer directly to address her concerns,” the statement read. “Our employees are well regarded for their hospitality and we always strive for the best experience for anyone who entrusts us with their travel.”

Gottlieb shared a photo of her fiance and child once they were safely on board the plane.

“I do feel like as a white female, with a position of privilege, and a platform where someone is going to listen, it is my responsibility to say, hey, this happened, this isn’t okay,” Gottlieb told KPIX 5 after the incident. “And maybe somewhere down the line, that helps my son, who is bi-racial and will be for his entire life. I suspect it was just one insensitive employee. The final spot in the Men’s MITB Ladder match is up for grabs and it is Daniel Bryan against Samoa Joe. They were titans of Ring of Honor before they signed with WWE and now the WWE Universe will get their first taste of the indy legends facing off. Bryan and Joe are two of the most talented in-ring performers and with a shot at the MITB briefcase on the line, it should be intense. This match could go either way, but will Big Cass play a role in the outcome?

Last week The Miz brought The New Day onto Miz TV and tried to figure out which of the three men would be the one to compete for the MITB briefcase. He tried to play mind games to cause a schism in the group but found it too difficult and The New Day showed The Miz that their bond is much stronger than he expected. Big E would face off against The Miz but lose thanks to a distraction from The Bar. Now The Miz teams with The Bar this week against the power of positivity. Will The New Day come out on top, or will The Bar help Miz drive a wedge in the trio?

SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Carmella is known for her trash talking. After defeating Charlotte Flair at Backlash 2018 she earned a certain amount of that gloating but The Princess of Staten Island has a date with The Empress of Tomorrow at MITB. Will she continue to run her mouth or will the fear of facing Asuka temper Carmella’s fast mouth. Is she ready for Asuka?

This past week has seen twitter turn into an unexpected battleground. Shinsuke Nakamura has been exchanging words with The Perfect Ten himself Tye Dillinger. Since the two were so intent on fighting it out on social media, SmackDown GM Paige decided to chime in on twitter as well. Ohio State University has suspended two separate fraternities for code of conduct violations. The university suspended Alpha Epsilon Pi and Sigma Alpha Mu on Friday, May 25, after the fraternities were found to have violated the alcohol, hazing and endangering behavior and failure to comply with earlier sanctions sections of the code of student conduct.

According to statements from Dave Isaacs, a spokesman for the Office of Student Life, both fraternities will not be able to petition for reinstatement until 2023. Alpha Epsilon Pi, commonly known as AEPi, was originally placed on cease and desist status since November 8, 2017, and was placed on probation and educational sanctions on January 8, 2018. In addition, Sigma Alpha Mu was the subject of two conduct cases in 2017, with the fraternity previously being suspended for two years in 2013.

Both fraternities were given five days to appeal their suspension.

Both houses were among the 11 fraternities Ohio State said in November were under investigation when the university suspended “all social, recruitment and new member activities” at all 37 fraternities governed by its Interfraternity Council for violations, most involving hazing and alcohol use.

Members of houses suspended Friday received letters from the university that offered a five-day window to appeal the suspension and also support, including ways to find new housing.

No one from Sigma Alpha Mu or Alpha Epsilon Pi’s national headquarters, both based in Indianapolis, was available to comment Friday afternoon. Details on what fraternity members did to get suspended will be released by the university in the near future, said Dave Isaacs, spokesman for the Office of Student Life.

This is the latest major fraternity or sorority suspension or closure in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities in the wake of hazing and alcohol deaths.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who were shut down for hazing and the Lamda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

Vasyl Lomachenko earned his tenth straight professional victory on May 12, 2018, with a TKO victory over Jorge Linares to win the WBA and The Ring lightweight titles. It was the eighth straight opponent that Lomachenko, who had previously claimed the WBO international featherweight title, WBO featherweight title, and WBO junior lightweight title, had finished inside of the distance. But despite making easy work of his opponent, Lomachenko did not escape without damage of his own.

In fact, Hi-Tech must now undergo surgery to repair an injury suffered in the win.

According to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, Lomachenko is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery on a torn labrum in his right shoulder on Wednesday.

Lomachenko told Rafael that he suffered the injury during the second round of the fight. Just how bad was it? The 30-year-old Ukranian boxer says he heard his right shoulder pop out of place before popping it right back in. However, the shoulder gave Lomachenko trouble for the remainder of the bout.

Dr. Neal ElAttrache at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles confirmed the shoulder dislocation and labrum tear.

“There is clear evidence that he had a recent dislocation of the shoulder, and the most common injury that happens when there is a dislocation is a tear in the labrum,” ElAttrache said. “His is pretty extensive. A typical tear usually goes from about 2 o’clock if you’re looking at the face of a clock down to about 6 o’clock. His goes almost all the way around. I would say he has significant instability of his right shoulder.”

There is no immediate timetable for Lomachenko’s return, but we will update his status with more information as it becomes available.

If you haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War by now, I mean… what are you doing? Like, if you aren’t a fan of comic book movies, I get it, but then why are you reading this article? This has always bothered me about being a writer and having to give spoiler winnings. The people clicking the article should know that spoilers are coming and the people that don’t care about spoilers probably shouldn’t be reading the article anyway since they likely aren’t a true fan of the property their about to spoil for themselves. So now that the idiots are gone, we can talk about the ending of Avengers: Infinity War. As we all know, while Thor is able to catch Thanos with his Super Axe (or whatever) he misses his head, allowing Thanos to snap his fingers and wipe out half of the life in the universe. While it was a shocking ending, I also thought it was cheap, as half of the killed characters already have sequels announced.

However, according to Infinity War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the now famed snapping of Thanos’ fingers was originally going to be saved for the second part of Infinity War, which is due out next year.

A two-part finale was always the plan. Mr. Markus said that in one draft, the Snap didn’t occur until the second film. “But what we realized is, it would feel more like a cliffhanger than we intended,” he continued, and they had always meant to make distinct movies.

Had the Snap been pushed to Part 2, “it would be a continuation of exactly what you were watching before,” he said, when, as the culmination of 10 years of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, it should “be as big as it wants to be, and as sprawling.”

Instead, they aimed for a first movie “that went all the way to a tragic ending. And then one where mysterious things happen that I can’t tell you about.”

In addition to that little nugget of information, Markus and McFeely also dropped this little bomb about next year’s second part, in regards to Captain America and Black Widow:

Captain America and Black Widow mainly defend Earth in “Infinity War,” but they “have a much bigger role to play in that second film.” In Mr. McFeely’s words, “We gave ourselves license to pay off later.”

The still-untitled sequel to Avengers: Infinity War (which is rumored to be called Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet) is due out in theaters on May 3, 2019.

Awkwafina, born Nora Lum, is an entertainment personality from Forest Hills, Queens, New York and has dabbled in rap, comedy, television and acting.
